Stars Drop Clues To Invitees

All right, I take it back. One more post and then I'm going to bed. Turns out the Dallas Stars have sent out invitations for their new uniform unveiling ceremony to season ticket holders. The invites drop some subtle hints as to what we might expect for the new uniforms.

First off, let me give a nod to snlsmith at The Goalie Store message board. I snagged this information from his original post.

The inside apparently states the number 1 reason as being, "It's a great excuse to throw a party." It also indicates the event will be held Friday, September 14 at American Airlines Center and the uniform unveiling will happen at 6:02 PM.

This all is according to the post I referenced above.

The number 10 reason listed on the mailer seems to indicate that the black jerseys we've been seeing with "DALLAS" plastered across the front are more than likely the real deal. Sadly. What I'm saying is, prepare to see the Stars unveil something very similar to this on Friday.

Any Stars fans out there? Are you worried? Are you excited? Indifferent? Tell us in the comments. Good night!

I'm really starting to be afraid about these new Dallas jerseys...

If the marketing people responsible for the badass ads were at all involved in the new jerseys, they'll have to be good...

Right?

These def gotta be close to the real deal... you can tell in the pics from the Dallas photo shoot at the rink you posted some time ago.. a plain white jersey was seen as well as a black jersey with DALLAS across the front. So sorry Stars fans.

As a Penguins fan, i have my own Jersey problems. How can they remove the Alt logo shoulder patches! they complete the jersey. they seem so plain and boring now.
i just can't believe how many Penguins fans don't like that logo. :(

If I was a Dallas fan, I'd be shaking!!!

Do the stars think there in the NBA?!!!

you don't put the number in the front!

I'm a Stars fan, been one since Minnesota's road to the finals in 91 vs. the Penguins. I'm kinda excited and yet afraid to see what happens on Friday. I don't want my Stars to look like a football team on home ice, as for the white road uni's, well I'm hoping there is still green visible on them. If this jersey concept what we've been seeing for the Stars home uni for the past little while turns out to be the real deal, I wonder how many nhl teams will follow suit in years to come.

Numbers on the front: Blejch! Thanks for starting an awful trend, Buffalo!

Furthermore the Stars have missed the opportunity to distance themselves from being just another team with black jerseys. Boring. They don't televise well; nor do they ever look good in the video games.

And now that the Stars have dropped green as their "dominant" color, as the Wild have, that leaves NO green team. By staying the green course, either team could have established themselves as having unique jerseys, but both have jumped on jersey bandwagons.

What I like in those couple of Stars "leaks" you posted is that they're unique. If it's only the Stars who have STARS across the front with the number under it, then great ... good, new idea. As soon as another team copies it, it becomes a trendy, gimmicky carbon copy.

It would be great if all teams went with traditional elements and unique elements. That is, if it's something nobody else is doing, then give it a whirl (unless it's those Kings 3rds from the mid-90s). Otherwise, don't steal someone else's idea until it becomes classic.

Given all that, it was okay for Colorado to come up with their 3rds that have the COLORADO in the Rangers' style. But as soon as another team came up with that same design (which they didn't), it would have cheapened what COLORADO did. See what I'm saying?

So if a team came up with a 3rd in a couple years that used, say, the old-school sweater striping of a really old Bruins jersey, then great. Let's just hope that team is the only one.

All that said, I like these new Dallas unis if they're the real deal ... so long as they're the only ones.

Aw man, jumping the gun a little, but just when I thought nothing would be able to top Vancouver's visual abomination...

also a worried stars fan if that is their real jerseys (esp the one with dallas written across) don't get me wrong, i love the wordmarks... i'm firstly a canucks fan from vancouver and love what they did despite some criticism from other people. secondly, im a stars fan, and would hate to see that wordmark, it looks ugly i think.

but perhaps... the "new look, new attitude" is right in front of our eyes on the poster...

could it perhaps be a slanted version of the logo? it does add a little umph and character, and it's not bad really. that's my guess (or more like... hope!)

alright kids, lets not jump the gun here. we've got until friday to see what happens. i mean, it's not like the stars have ever released a "bad" jersey design...

*flash back to the black thing with the bull head crest*

...aw damn.

"Black thing with the bull head..."

Way too many ideas crammed into one logo. And first of all, Taurus is a constellation made up of "north stars." And THE north star isn't even IN the Taurus cluster!

Then it seems people wouldn't understand the bull head by itself except for being a loose connection to a Dallas theme, so they drew the constellation over the logo, cluttering the whole thing up even more.

In theory, it was a great idea to reach for a distant idea, but it fell in practice.

The Jersey has been leaked in the new NHL 2k8 comercial with Spezza in it. You can see Turco on the bench whereing the wordmark jersey.

I have always loved the black jerseys, why didn't they just bring those back. I really don't like the "Dallas" across the front of our home jersey. I hope that these are not the real deal. I think these new jerseys are way too plain. Hopefully they will only wear these for a couple of years and they will go away like the "mooterus jersey".
