Possible Secondary Logo Tournament

You've still got 4 days left to vote, but I thought I'd show you what a Secondary Logo Tournament would look like. Apologies for the delay but for some reason I thought I'd already posted it.

Last weekend I posted the possible Third Jersey Logo Tournament which was in the lead at the time. Then I posted the possible Vintage Logo Tournament which has now slightly overtaken the former for the lead.

The secondary logos are behind in the voting, which doesn't mean we'll never do it — just that it probably won't be the next one. But regardless, here are the 18 that would be used if it were next.

That's a very colorful group. The bracket would be determined randomly but wouldn't be posted until the tournament begins.

I'm a little concerned, however, that the Chicago Blackhawks secondary mark I have is a little off. Comparing it to photos, the "C" and the black stroke aren't quite right.

If any of you have the logo that appears on the Hawks' shoulders or know where I could find it, please let me know. I want everything to be as accurate as possible with this. You can leave a comment or email me.

One last thing. A couple of people have mentioned doing a concept logo tournament, throwing a bunch of the concept logos we've seen into the pool. I'm trying to gauge interest on that. Would you guys want to vote on that at some point in the near future or do you think it would be a waste of time? Drop me a line, either way.

I think eventually you should do all the logo tournament options, but I believe that either way whether it is the vintage or secondary logos that is next, I'm up for it.

I agree with paul, we should do all tournaments at some pont in time. Chris, What about an AHL logo tournament, that would be pretty cool.

Hey guys, sorry if I was unclear. We're definitely going to do them all. Right now I'm just trying to find out which tournament everyone wants to do next.

As far as the AHL, a plan is in the works. I'm building a second blog where we'll vote on non-NHL hockey logos. I've built graphics for the AHL and ECHL but there are plenty of other minor leagues we'll get to as well.

The bruins second logo is going to run away with it...

I hope they make it into an alternate jersey.

You know what would be a fun idea? Have a "Primary vs. Secondary" logo contest.

I'm looking at that collection of teams' secondaries, and I'm noticing that half of them are better than their respective clubs' primaries.

I think the Bruins is the nicest of the bunch. I just hope everyone doesn't vote for the stick rink from Vancouver. It's simple and nice but not the winner.

a concept logos tourney would be very nice in the near future, because we've seen some awesome work this summer and it'd be very interesting to see which concept logo is the ToL-reader's favourite

Hey Chris, do you know the secondary logo you put for Ottawa there, well that is not the one. This is:http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?lo=x8dxgo0eh0zensmq7icp

Even though it will not be worn at a game, it still stands as the Sens secondary logo and will be sold the Sens fans as Sens memorabillia

Sharks and Capitals will make it to the finals... 'nuff said.

Hey there, sports guru! Perhaps saying "secondary" is slightly misleading? The logos I'm using for this pool are essentially whatever you find on shoulder patches throughout the league. For the Sens, the "O" logo is on the shoulder, not the profile logo.

That's why the pool is the way it is. Hope that helps to explain things. Thanks for commenting!

Chris - what happened to the NYR Liberty head? Why not do all the secondary logos together?

For the Islanders, would you include the Lighthouse or the 4 stripes?

Like I said, I'm essentially using shoulder logos in this pool. The Lady Liberty logo would be part of the Third Jersey Tournament.

For the Islanders, would you include the Lighthouse or the 4 stripes?

Neither. The 4 stripes aren't a logo (like the new Pittsburgh 250 patch) and the lighthouse — as much as I like it — is old news. This tournament would be for current logos.

But not to worry, though, we'll get the lighthouse into a poll one day.

Calgary's flaming horse head?

Okay, what about the Canada and Alberta flag "logos"?

The horse will be in the third jersey pool. This pool is for current secondary's only. And like your quotes point out, flags aren't logos. (See my previous comment.) That's why I avoided calling it a "shoulder" logo tournament. Thanks!

Thanks Chris, I was just kidding about the flags. Here is another idea: Specialty logos.

Ex: Anniversary, All-star, special event, retired number night...etc.

Love what you are doing, keep it up. Thanks again.

That is every team that has a secondary logo. Who am I missing?
