Wings Prospects Wearing EDGE?
It seems that the members of the Detroit Red Wings at the Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan are wearing the new Rbk EDGE jersey. RedWingsCentral.com has a great photo gallery up from Friday. I recommend taking a look.
You can see Thrashers and Lightning players in a couple of the photos but they appear to be wearing last year's sweaters.
If I get permission from the photographer, I'll post some of the pictures here in case the link ever goes away.
UPDATE (9:03 AM): I've been given permission to repost some of the photos so check these out. They were taken by Sarah Lindenau for RedWingsCentral.com.
From the previous photos we'd seen of the road sweaters, it wasn't clear if the sleeve element would remain the same. Seems it will. You'll also notice the "A" on the right shoulder for the alternate captain in this photo. Here's another for your viewing pleasure.
Huge thanks to RedWingsCentral.com from me! I should point out, too, that the folks at RedWingsCentral.com are not confirming that these are Rbk EDGE jerseys, but I believe they are. The collar and tight fit lead me to this assumption. Just wanted to put that out there.
Incidentally, there's a gallery of photos taken yesterday also available here.

God, these RBK jerseys are looking good in red wings colors...
I love these sweaters when a team gets a good looking design on them. The fit reminds me of how sweaters fit in the 1980's. I can't see the awkward shirt tail in any of the pictures, perhaps that only looks bad on the hanger?
Anybody else think it's wrong for that dude to be wearing #66?
demondg1,
i'm saying i'm 100% sure this is the case, but rookie/prospects camps usually assign high numbers to the players, so if he cracked the final lineup he would most likely change it.
Another thing i wanted to point out, The Red Wings (and some other teams) use a cheaper-looking nameplate font for any preseason type games. So these gallery pics don't accurately depict that aspect of the uniform.
Question posed to Chris and ALL RBK Edge experts:
I can see and understand the difference the new technology would have- in particular the fabric and it's moisture wicking, but as a goalie, moisture management aside, I just don't see the tighter fit providing ANY benefit...

Detroit isn't the only team wearing the EDGE jerseys in the tourney. I was watching highlites the other day and Florida and Pittsburgh were also wearing their new unis... i must say Florida's looked alot better on the players than Pittsburgh's.
Hi WonderBread! I'd love to answer your question but I didn't see one there. :)
As far as the tighter fit, I don't think that's entirely the case with goalies — especially with the pads you guys wear.
One more note about the "tighter fit." Track down some old-time hockey photos. Even as recent as the '70s and '80s. The "loose-fitting" sweaters were only introduced about a decade or so ago. Check out this historical Boston Bruins photo gallery.
Thanks for the response. I guess there really was not much of a Q there after all. I can tell you, my RBK chest protector has inner elbow guards that are SO BIG...
-here is where you say: how BIG are they?-
they are SO big they come with their own zip code... ahem. anyhow, old style goalie cut sweaters barely go over them!
I just don't see myself ever getting one in goalie cut.
Also, props to yer bolts- new jersey looks sweet! DEF better when side by side with the old bolts...
for kicks, if a member, check my my space- u can see the jerseys i made last season for my club team, we were sponsored my Borio Chiropractic, and i wanted a color no other teams had, so Nashville Mustard yellow answered the call!

check it and let me know what u think! if u check all the pics, u can see the mask i painted and custom brians pads i HAD made to match.
i live by style over substance!

Aaah, my dear Wings. You may have, for reasons unknown to most forms of science, lost out in the logo race to an orca that looks like it got hit with Homer Simpson's Make-Up Gun, but they got the last laugh with their jerseys. Kept a design that needed no change, plus made a subtle retro nod by flipping the C/A patch placement. Even with the stupid little NHL logo on the neck these are going to be the best-looking jerseys on the ice next season. Can't wait for them to come back here to Vancouver so I can point and laugh at the travesties the Canucks will be forced to wear in comparison.
