Possible New Stars Uniform?

At last I have non-Canucks-related news to post. It seems there's a chance the Dallas Stars new Rbk EDGE uniforms may have leaked. I found the following image posted at HFBoards.com.

What we've been hearing is that the Stars will be going with a jersey that doesn't have a crest on the front but rather the word "DALLAS" and this jives with that. However, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me that a team would put their city on their home jerseys. And we've been hearing the NHL is keeping the dark jerseys for home ice.

This sweater also lacks the current Stars logo which has been rumored to be changing. In fact, there's a whole new logo on the shoulder of a "D" with a gold star in the bottom corner. Frankly, I like it. The horizontal green and white stripes are a classic throwback to the teams early days in the Big D and I think it would be a definite upgrade — assuming this is the real deal.

As far as debunking it — a task which has become necessary as we've seen more than our share of bad to half-decent Photoshop efforts — I can't say the overall feel looks familiar. I could be completely wrong, but I'm checking the real-deal box on this one. What do you guys think? Will Dallas be wearing these in the fall? Or have we been duped?

As official announcements go, a Stars official team message board administrator recommended we mark our calendars for Septmeber 14.

UPDATE (6:29 PM): ...And we've been duped! Just came across this photo of the Bruins new home jersey. Examine the creases and laces and you'll see what I'm talking about. Click the photo to enlarge it.

Stars fans, this will not be your team's new home jersey. Rest easy. Gotta say though, these Photoshop endeavors are getting better and better if you ask me. Sad to see we don't have anything that could possibly be the real thing, but we'll live.

This jersey is completely non-creative, boring, and if for real, it WILL be a complete disaster. I know some teams are going back to original colors and stuff, but there's no need to revert back to original plain jane creativity (or lack there of.) I hope its fake. Stick with a logo on the front, that's what sells.

Thank God that's not real. That is completely horrible looking.

I couldn't find your email anywhere. But could this be a possible Hurricanes jersey leak from EA Sports?

That photo has been out for awhile, but Chris has said he's been reluctant to put them up because there is no official word from the team (and hasn't included video game screenshots pretty much at all).

I can't remember what post he left the comment on though, but he went on to mention that he may post the video game screenshots at some point.

I don't think it's a fake - even though it does bare a slight resemblance to the Bruins' uniforms.

A reporter in Dallas saw the uniforms a few months ago, and described them in an article. That jersey seems to match that description perfectly.

I don't mind the idea of putting the city's name on an away jersey, but putting in on a home jersey is just silly. Even still, it's a huge improvement over their current uniforms. The shade of green is perfect, and the new logo is fantastic.

Thanks, artymous. It's true, I've been weary about posting the Hurricanes jerseys as an official unveiling since its not a photo and doesn't show the actual jersey itself. Like you said, though, I do plan on posting some of them at some point — maybe one day when I have no news to post.

Thanks for all the comments, everybody. My internet was down this morning or I'd have been on sooner.

Now I know that the league is doing away with 3rds, but if the road white Bruins jersey is peaking in from the left of that picture, then what is the all yellow sleeve coming in from the right?

It's an optical illusion k.d. It's a sock, not a sleeve. Pardon my bad cropping. I was just trying to show the jersey by itself.

what do you think about the number on the front. I think it looks cool, not something for every jersey. But if only one team does it, i think its cool and original

Oops, looks like your assertion was wrong. It did in fact turn out to be the new Bruins jersey, down to the secondary logo on the shoulders.

I actually like the simplicity and the retro feel to it.
