this is pathetic. everyone knows its going to end up with the 4 remaining canadian teams. so much for that theory of us canadians not having any national pride. the evidence is right here on this tourny blog. ruining what was supposed to be a pretty cool logo challenge with their homer voting. i now take it upon myself to apologize to chris and all true hockey fans out there who were looking for a fair representation of this challenge. way to go fellow canadians. i cant wait for the oilers to be crowned "greatest logo in the nhl"
Well at least you're honest.
I think the new Canucks logo is one of the best in the NHL.
couldn't agree more andrew. what was once promising has demised into something not worth voting on.
am i really to believe that the canucks logo beat the red wings?
that somehow that hideous oilers logo is going to beat the avs?
that the senators new logo will beat the flyers?
thanks a lot you homers for destroying this tourney!!!!!
Hell, I'm a Canucks fan and I don't think we should have made it past Detroit.
However, I can see Montreal winning, and I don't think I'd ahve any problems at all with that.
If we were counting the votes now, that's definitely not the case Andrew. Philly would beat the Sens and the Blues would beat the Canucks.
However, if Chris was a true hockey fan? Perhaps he would have a little more input on hockey history and know that the Sens have a little more logo history than he's letting on in this blog.
As for the Oilers logo beating the Avs logo. The Avs logo could be simplified more than it is. Why not just remove the puck that is pretty much non existent and take out all the detail in the avalanche and figure out a more simple way of producing it.
I don't see a lot of great American logos, so why would I vote for them being a Canadian? In the Philly vs Atlanta I voted for Philly because it's much more simple and to the point.
However, now that they are facing the Sens, which are my team. Of course bias is going to come into play. Not to mention I really don't like the flying P.
Oh, war and defense? Why exactly should Detroit have beaten the Vancouver logo?
OK Andrew, show me your KING OF THE WORLD badge and then maybe I'll agree that your opinion counts more than 20,000 voters! But until then this is just your opinion and your vote counts as 1, just like the rest of us. WE ARE TRUE HOCKEY FANS! What the hell makes you so much holier than every other hockey fan out there?
IT IS NOT PATHETIC!!! I think Chris is doing a great job with this poll and the people who are following this tourney are the ones who care about hockey and the logos of the nhl. Andrew, do your own freakin tournament of logos if you think that only your opinion counts! It's fine to disagree, but don't discount the entire thing because YOU don't agree with the results! Get a clue!
However, if Chris was a true hockey fan? Perhaps he would have a little more input on hockey history and know that the Sens have a little more logo history than he's letting on in this blog.
I need a little help here. What did I miss, DylanSensFan? What is keeping you from perceiving me as a "true hockey fan" (your words)? What bit of hockey history have I overlooked? I actually want to know. I don't want to be posting inaccurate information here.
By the way, I'm merely presiding over the logo tournament and trying to leave my opinion out of it. I want this to be about everybody else's opinions. That's why I don't vote.
Thanks for the comments, everybody!
Ottawa Sentors.
National Hockey League (NHL) 1917/18-1933/34
Chris, I would start with the "0" on the Senators shoulder patch. The Ottawa Senators were originally apart of the NHL back in the day and won a few Stanley Cups back then as well. After joining the NHL.
I just notice you have a vote for the best all time logo for a team. I feel the Sens should be up there, as they have 3 viable logo changes. From their beginnings in the NHL to their re beginnings.
This coming from an AVS Fan:
Simply put, a logo that incorporates Motor City like the Red Wings have should beat a collaborative effort of the Indian tribes that created the Canucks logo. Spare me your sympathy for the Native Americans. The Red Wings logo is more iconic and relevant than the Canucks.
By the way, the 1991/92 - Present Senators ARE A LOT DIFFERENT THAN the 1917 - 34 Senators. Cmon, do you REALLY have to go that far back to embrace their GLORY YEARS and then tell me YOU WERE AROUND FOR IT? It doesn't make sense. They were two different teams in two different eras. No sir, your team's cups back then are completely irrelevant to the modern hockey club that plays in Ottawa now. Hence the big ZERO on the shoulder patch. No CUPS, NO GLORY!
Furthermore, the Sens new logo is atrocious.

Okay, I do see your point, DylanSensFan. But the original Senators team was a completely different franchise — only the same city and team name as today's club. Other than that, it's not the same club and this may be a personal preference on my part, but I won't consider them as anything but.
Furthermore, a Senators logo history vote is coming. Notice the "More logo history polls to be listed soon" statement beneath the list. I believe I have the Sens scheduled for September 27. It will include three logos. (Not the one from 1917.)
Thanks again for the comments!
Couldn't agree more Chris!!!
What a disgrace. It's a shame that fans like Canuck-fans have ruined what looked like was going to be a pretty cool competition.
Blues logo is hands down the better logo between these two...the Canucks logo (an Orca Whale) has nothing to do with the word Canuck...just the ownership group...how does a logo like that come close to the classic Blue Note? Vote Note!
I feel like I need to debunk this flawed theory that seems to be floating around that Vancouver Canucks fans are somehow responsible for "ruining the tournament."
First, Canucks fans weren't the only ones voting. Almost 25,000 votes were cast and I defy anyone to prove they were even in the majority. And the idea that any Canucks fans were coming back to vote over and over again is simply misleading and false.
Second, as the creator of this blog, I don't feel the tournament is ruined. Many of you have made the valid point that just because a logo has been around for a long time doesn't automatically put it into the "best" category. The majority of the people who cast votes felt the Canucks had a better logo — for whatever reason, which I might add, was entirely subjective, just like this entire tournament.
So as I've said before, don't take it so seriously!
Fans from all over the world are voting in this tournament. I've heard from many of them personally. The idea that a handful of folks from Vancouver could tip the scales truly bewilders me.
On the idea that some people are casting votes for their favorite team is perfectly valid and there's nothing wrong with that. As a Lightning fan, I would've chosen the Bolts logo over almost any other one because of what it means to me. I see a Stanley Cup championship when I look at it.
Logos, like any artwork, are meant to evoke different feelings. When you look at a logo it makes you feel something. For example, to a Habs fan, a Leafs logo may evoke contempt as long-time rivals.
Vote for whichever logo you want for whatever reason you want. This tournament is for you! Ignore people who think theirs in the only opinion that matters. Yours does too and you can make it count by voting the way you choose.
Enjoy the rest of the tournament! I'm looking forward to seeing the results at the end!
(Plus, after this is over, we'll have another logo tournament to follow. Details coming a week from today.)
Of coarse we are going to vote for our logo why would we vote for our enemy's!
Why would a flying music note be a sweet logo?
Great comment Chris. you said what i wanted to, but couldnt.
I'm a die-hard canucks fan. since i was a kid i loved the canucks. But don't get me wrong, i like some other teams, and can appriciate a great logo when i see one. So far in this tourny it has been rather easy, now i'm stumped. i really like the new canucks logo, but i've always admired the blues' logo. I have been deciding by saying "what one would i prefer to wear" trying to keep my canucks loyalty to a minimum. This VS and the habs-NJ VS are stumping me. but i think habs/canucks will gain my votes.
Although i'm a sturdy 'Nucks fan, i will vote for a better logo if we go against one.
Well said Robert, couldn't have put it better myself. Also responding to an earlier post for those who are not familiar with the basis of the canucks logo, I will explain. The word "canuck" also means canadian and is very original. The orca on the logo may be tied in previous ownership, but is also a symbol of Vancouver and British Columbia as we are a home to the killer whale, (orca). We are not simply a team with a corporate logo and a cheesy name.. Try to think before you speak next time.
i like the blues logo, it symbolizes the team.
I know i dont get the Canuks logo
its hard to grasp for me
the st louis logo is a music note, givng me that its a music city and the blue color make me see its the blue which together makes it the blues
i get that logo and any logo that describel the city is a good logo and detail makes it great
Why would you vote for the logo of your enemy? Oh, I don't know perhaps because it's a poll about logos and not about "who's your favorite team?" I don't mind the newest canuck logo but there is no way it should of beaten the flyin tire. I just wish Vancouver would pick a logo and stick with it. As far as the Bluenote goes it's over 40 years old now therefore a classic as well as being simple, clean and distinctive. When you see it you know exactly what it represents. It has a deep and meaningful significance to the city of St. Louis and it's people.
If you truly want to know who has the best logo. . then you should block the IP Addresses from voting more than once. . Period.
You need to lay off the pot to those of you who think the Canucks logo is better than the Wings. .
If you're going to tell me that you don't have 14 year old kids on here voting 50 times a day .. then you also need to lay off the pot.
Just go to the Canucks.com fan forum. That place. . like this "tourney" is a joke.
I gotta admit, i wish this were a fair fight but seems the canadian teams are gonna make it through. Everyone has their own opinions, but in my head best logo in teh leaugue is still the Blackhawks... i love that freakin logo..(i'm a canuck fan btw)
best logo's
1. Blackhawks
2. Devils
3. Habs
4. Pens
5. Flames ( even though i hate them)
p.s. and for the record, i love my canucks logo, but i hate that stupid vancouver on the jerseys
Exactly Michael!! Took the words right outta my mouth!
I'm sorry, even with the monochrome color swap, that orca still looks like it was hit in the face with a bazooka filled with lipstick and hand cream, and this is coming from someone who loves the aesthetic of NW-coast native art. They create beautiful images but it's NOT good sports-logo fare. It'll either come out looking like a weak imitation of the real thing, or it'll look too busy for it's own good (even without a huge wordmark slapped on top).
"This coming from an AVS Fan:

The totem is apart of Canadian history, especially Western Canadian history and so are the First nations tribes that produced them. Killer whales that migrate from Seattle to the coast of British Columbia are also a very real and relative interpretation of the culture of our coast. The killer whale breaking through the ice is not only a natural happening during their winter hunting, but it relates to hockey, being that hockey is played on ice. The shape of the "C" pertains to Canuck's. All very relevant and packaged simply and effectively. I'm not sure if you are American or not. But your sheer lack of historical knowledge makes your comments skewed and bias because you aren't basing yourself with any factual evidence. The relevance of Detroit being the motor city makes sense and that is why I understand their logo? I don't know the history of the red wing. But as a whole I understand what the designers of Detroit's red wing logo were trying to get at. Is Detroit's logo better than the Canuck's perhaps it has some historical significance that the Vancouver logo doesn't, but in no way does that make it a better logo or any more relevant.
I dunno how you interpreted what I wrote before as my going back to the glory years? I was simply stating that Ottawa and the Senators have more history than just that of recent history! The Ottawa franchise was apart of the NHL in it's beginnings and should by rights be apart of the history of their logo, as the shoulder patch is a testament to the team of old, so the "New" franchise is saying hey... the old one existed in the history of hockey and played apart in what the NHL is today.
Being 26 years old, I surely wasn't around back then. However, I do like to get a sense of history, rather than just winging everything I say or think about in this life.
You seem to be riding by the seat of your pants with everything you post, come back with something realistic and arguable, pertaining to what I've posted and then you might have a debate.
Furthermore, the Sens new logo is atrocious."
I wouldn't consider the AVS logo a work of Art. At least all the lines of the new sens logo are clean and simple. The AVS logo could use some work. There is supposed to be a hockey puck?
Oh and War.
A logo is not an icon, look up the precepts of design.
I find it so amusing how you people(not everyone) take this poll so seriously. Who cares if people think the Canucks logo is better than the Blues? Why is it so important that the team's logo that YOU like is not winning? Is the Stanley Cup going to be given out to the team who wins these votes? Seriously guys this is all just poll for fun...its absurd to take it so seriously.
i think the Canucks logo is better than the blues and i voted for them,DEAL WITH IT
Chocolate, what I find amusing is the people who clearly aren't designers, trying to argue the design aspects of a logo.
Just stay within what you know, or go and learn a little more before you argue.
At least if you are bias like I am, you'll vote for your team. If my team loses, so be it. I like the Ottawa Senators logo and what it symbolises and a logo is all about the symbolic.
I do agree however, that sometimes I get to serious about these things.
Haha Sens my post wasn't directed to you. It was to comments made by people before yours. Your post was a good read and informs the public of the backround behind the Whale, which is appreciated. Anyway, ttyl!
Excellent comment by DylanSensFan.
Upon reading these posts, I found an interesting trend (I won't call out posters because everyone has their own opinion). If you can understand the wheel in the Detroit logo, and the musical note in the Blues logo, how the heck do you not understand the orca? I'm not sure if this is an American thing, but let's quickly describe Vancouver:
City located on the west coast, surrounded by a giant body of water known as the Pacific Ocean. Within this ocean are beautiful killer whales of the orca species - a symbol of Vancouver for as many years as I can remember. So I see the Canucks logo as representing the region quite well.
Now yes, I'm a Canucks fan, but I'd vote for a better logo if I saw it. At the same time, I like the current logo, so if I vote for it, deal with it. In the current case, I don't care how "classic" the blues logo is, I don't like it and never have.
As for fans tipping the poll, that's impossible. I remember Chris saying it registers your ip. To check, I tried to vote twice, clearing cookies etc. It DIDN'T WORK. So these accusations need to stop. If you don't agree with the result, it doesn't mean there's a conspiracy. Everyone has their own taste in design - it's purely subjective.
Chris is doing a great job with this site - he deserves kudos for following his passion. In other words, get off his ass.
I have tried all the ways I know how to vote multiple times and it just can't be done.
Simply put, a logo that incorporates Motor City like the Red Wings have should beat a collaborative effort of the Indian tribes that created the Canucks logo. Spare me your sympathy for the Native Americans. The Red Wings logo is more iconic and relevant than the Canucks.
I am a Canucks fan and I am also a Native American. I want to know how a native american logo that honors the first peoples should be dismissed for that fact alone?
descendents of europeans have made logo's depicting native americans forever and mock our culture with gestures and gutteral sounds at your games.
The canucks logo is the only logo I have ever seen that truly honors native americans so I vote for it and I love it.
its kinda funny you all think its bad that canadian teams have more fans so their logos will win and you are shocked.
wake up hockey doesn't matter in the USA enough to make the fans come vote. If a Canadian team wins its because they have more fans that have found out about the contest and have voted because they are fans of the game, this doesn't make their votes invalid.
go nucks!!
To silence the nay-sayers, I have voted on a single poll more than once and it has recorded my vote. Not to mention the ability to skate on over to another computer and do the very same thing. Of course we'll just ignore this little test and believe the magical loveliness that the nucks logo honorably beat one of the best logos in all of sports...and then we can all freeze cause hell has officially created an ice rink!
As far as the Canucks VS Blues Logos, here is my two cents.
The Blues logo is a music note, and I understand that the team is named after a famous song by W.C Handy actually named "St. Louis Blues" but I don't unerstand how this logo could be related to a sports team. A flying note doesn't strike me as a symbol that creates any sort of athletic premise or danger to me at all.
For the record, the song that this team is named after is about a woman who steals the singers lover. Now I could understand if this song had something to do with hockey or even anything cool, but it is about a a woman stealing another womans man.
As for the Canucks logo, it has been said many times that this is corporate symbol. This very well may be the case, but is still does a great job of incorporating something that is in Vancouver and also happens to be one of the, if not the most feared predators in the ocean. And for people that don't know a lot about Orca's (also known as the Killer Whale for a reason) their diet includes, many types of fish including different types of Sharks and whales (blue gray and sperm). I have even read one time a that a Great white shark was killed by a mother orca protecting her calf.
Not to mention that it is in the shape of a C, and I can think of a couple kick ass jersies that use a letter for a symbol.
So as far as I am concerned, I'm voting for the 'C Killer Whale' over the 'note' of a cheating man.
I will state right off the bat that I am a Canucks fan. However, I am voting for the logo I think looks better. In this case it happens to be my team. However, in the first round I voted for the Sharks logo because I like it better. I did not vote for the Red Wings logo and I am not voting for the Blues logo. Is this because I am a homer. Absolutely not. This is because I have different tastes and opinions of what a better logo is.
I have not problem with the homers however. If this is how they vote, so be it. I really don't think that they are tipping the scales quite as much as people believe though. I have seen way more comments from people stating that they are voting for logos because they are "classic". This is in my opinion the exact same thing as voting for your home team. For example, the habs logo is very classic and has been around for ages. The history of the team, their logos, and their jerseys is a very rich one. The habs are my second favorite team in the NHL. However, I know that if any team came out nowadays with that logo they would be the laughing stock. It is very plain. However, like most fans, I wouldn't change it for anything and believe that it should never change because of this history. I also believe that the Canucks should have stuck with their stick-in-rink logo forever because it was classic. I however do not think it is the best looking logo.
So why don't you all quit your bitching about the votes and just vote how you want. My criteria is the look of the logo. Yours might be how classic the logo is or the fact that it is your home team's logo and it brings passion to you. Good for you. You have a difference of opinion from me.
I have voted on the same poll more than once, but that is because I wanted to see the results and didn't see the link the first few times. But I doubt my couple votes made much difference anyway.
Thanks Chris for this site. I check it out every day to see the new jerseys, the latest mockups, and the latest polls.
does the orca's predatory nature automatically make it sports-related? it's still ugly anyway.
In response to Canis:
First off, you're right, you could use any other computer if it has a separate IP. You can't help that. To assume that everyone voting for the Canucks logo is doing just that is simply arrogant.
Secondly, I know many Americans are stuck on dial-up, and if so, I can see how you personally can vote multiple times. Every time you dial in you get a new ip. If you're on broadband however, I call bullshit.
To add to that, by the end of 2007 it's projected 81% of all households in Canada will be using broadband (we have a heck of a penetration rate). Anyone on broadband is stuck with a registered ip courtesy of their isp. I don't see Vancouverites sitting at home voting 50 times a day. That's pathedic.
So to end the madness once and for all....GET OVER IT. Just because certain people don't like a certain logo, say the Canucks in this case, doesn't mean you speak for the other 20,000.
Besides, a lot of people are voting on these logos purely for the designs. Although some of you refuse to accept that anything is better than the original 6, others find those logos sparse and uninspiring. If this vote bothers you so much, don't check the results.
I should probably change my name as I see two other tyler's on this board. Ah well we'll pretend we're all the same.
Believe what you want and assume what you want. I am simply stating a FACT that I have been able to vote on polls more than once WITHOUT having to purge. This test was done on both a MAC and PC. Furthermore, one is on a wireless and the other on a broadband. So "Tyler" I've got no reason to lie because being a sports logo enthusiast for 35 years, a professional graphic artist for 16 years and an amateur sports historian I am saying to you that despite your beliefs there are holes in this voting.
But, that is fine. I don't mind people's opinions. I actually enjoy hearing why a fan likes his teams logo. I'm not "calling b.s." on your opinion. If you go back and read my posts I'm only supporting the post that said that there are actual flaws in the poll taking system.
So, get off your high horse and calm the F**k down. Nobody is here to tell you that you're passion for your teams logo is "wrong".
For the record, I think the Blues logo is very simplistic and symbolic of a town that has given us blues musicians like Miles Davis and Billie Holliday and THAT is why the "blue note" is a perfect symbol.
Pathetic! I just logged my 5th vote for the Blues...again this poll is BS and once again I reiterate a flawed tabulation.
i agree with johnny nucker. andrews favorite team probably didnt make it, and now he feels the need to nag down other teams. PFFFFFFF, go nucks!!
This has wound up being a joke of a poll because some people remain too biased towards their favourite team as opposed to actually voting for the most attractive logo. Oilers over Blackhawks? Senators over Bruins? Canucks over Red Wings? LOL, while the Canucks logo may have a cultural relevance, it's still uggified, it still looks like a constipated Free Willy trying to suck it in and play the roll of Ouroboros. Consequently it shouldn't have made it past the wing a ding dings.
I have the Blues, especially if they lose to the cannots.
Canis, it kinda sounds like you you're the one that needs to calm down dude. I'm not the same tyler that posted above, but wowzers it's just a vote setup by a single guy with passion for the game.
Personally I can't seem to register multiple votes on my computer either (like others have noted). So if you can, well super.
If you're concerned about votes being swayed just sit there and vote 500 times. Alright I'm just saying that last part to f*** with ya ;)
People are taking this way too seriously… It's all in good fun. I disagree with a lot of choices, but I'm not bitter about it.
I'm a Canadiens and Flyers fan from Montreal, and all of my votes were based on the aesthetic design of the logos. As a graphic designer, I'm totally unbiased.
My personal top 5 NHL logos are:
1 • The Flyers
2 • The Red Wings
3 • The Flames
4 • The Avalanche
5 • The Sharks
You can't seriously think that the blues is better than the canucks logo , what does the blues logo even have to do with S.T.Louis?
Vancouver has the orcas in the ocean which is right beside it , I havent ever heard blues from any band in S.t.louis
Ummm...butler32...some quick research would have avoided making you sound like a fool:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_Blues_%28song%29

butler32... Maybe you've never heard of:
Otis Hicks
Ike Turner
Tina Turner
Sonny Boy Williamson
Albert King
Chuck Berry
Here are WAY more blues artists from the St. Louis area:

i doubt butler32 has heard ANY blues. otherwise he might have known better.

I personally think the Flames got screwed by the Chicago Blackhawks, the flaming C is a way better logo than that ugly indian head... that's coming from an oiler fan. As far as oilers beating them, I voted oilers - I grew up wearing that logo when I was a toddler, it's impossible for me to not have a biased opinion of it. But I still contest that Chicago's indian head is completely fugly.
Senators over bruins is neither here nor there, I don't like the senators logo, but the big B is really no better. I would disagree with the Senators beating the Flyers tho.
Canucks over red wings? Ya I totally agree that that was weak. But it looks like the blues will rightfully knock em out anyways. I woulda picked the blues over the red wings anyways.
As if I needed to justify any of it the Nucks board is pretty clear in their weighting this vote. Yada yada get a life...I have a life. Sports logos is my hobby and my passion. I find it very sad though that tech savvy fans feel the need to weigh this poll as some kind of superficial tournament. When all is said and done the Canucks logo(while very graphically intriguing) leaves many outside fans very unimpressed.
Sure the Killer Whale is a symbol of the region, but by Nuck fan's own admission it is a name that symbolizes "Canadian". Last I checked Killer Whales aren't indigenous to Saskatchewan or Ontario...or even Halifax. I think the point is you that you supporters of this logo may think it is a symbol of your team but it is strictly a symbol of a region. It has NOTHING to do with the term Canuck. Matter of fact I've polled about 50 Canadian friends that know little or nothing about sports and they all have the same response...Canuck=derogatory term.
In conclusion I'd say that this logo and the support it has garnered in this little poll has less to do with its attractiveness and more to do with a bunch of bleeding heart fans that have nothing to look forward to every season but a cast of desperadoes and an empty cauldron hopes and dreams.
I thank God every day that I was born in Michigan and that I was raised a Wingnut so I don't have such a pathetic existance as those in Vancouver/Victoria Isle/BC/Alaska.
Life is good and God love the Red Wings.
Canis, Canucks is another word for Canadian. Are you sure you did enough research? o.o
I like the Canucks logo more than the note, but again the Canucks logo shouldn't have went past the wings. Everyone has a different way of thinking. As Chris said, dont take it too seriously.
This is easy, THe St Louis Blues easily have the most original and inspiring logo of any team in the NHL, the dynamic winged Bluenote. Nothing stands out so clear, there are no animals, or slogans, stupid looking tires or racist portraits of indigenous people, the Bluenote represents the true spirit of hockey.
The Blues will heal your soul when it is broken and long after the fall of Man...after we have eaten all of the whales......the Blues will go on forever.
the 'note' is extremely annoying IMO, i hate the nucks jersey, but their logo is pretty good standalone.
btw, it says that the polls closed, but it closes tomorrow... is it just me?
Why does everything always have to turn into a Canada vs. USA shouting match? And why would it be a bad thing if the top four logos happened to be Canadian? People vote for the logos they like, and I think a lot of people would be biased in this voting. If you do not like Team X because of the rivalry with your team, then you would be much less likely to vote for Team X because you wouldn't like anything about their team (even the logo). Some people like the Flyers logo, but I personally hate it. So friggin' what. It's my opinion. If people are of the opinion that the Oilers have a good logo (and I am one of them), then good on them.
This is just a series of polls on NHL logos - it's not like we're debating the merits of George W. Bush - so why doesn't everyone stop being all pissy - regardless of nationality.
Sheesh.
I don't understand why people think the canucks logo is a corporate mark. Sure, the team was owned by a company named "Orca Bay," but that doesn't mean that the orca has nothing to do with the team, or the city. I've lived in Vancouver my whole life, and Haida art, which often includes images of the orca, is something I've seen my whole life living in this area -- on totem poles, in museums, and just around the city in general.
The orca logo represents the city much better than the old logos:
STICK IN RINK: Um what does that have to do with the name canucks or the city of Vancouver?
HOCKEY SPAGHETTI SKATE: Once again, we get it already, the Canucks are a HOCKEY team. What does that have to do with the city name?
ORCA: Vancouver is part of this logo.
here are some examples:

To all those people who say the Orca logo is a corporate logo... it's got more history than ANY logo the canucks have ever had.

Do you really? Maybe you should ask God for some schooling as well. Maybe ask him for a time-out from this forum while you're at it.
I don't see the validity in calling our existance (sic) pathetic in Vancouver/Victoria Isle/BC/Alaska (did you mean Vancouver Island?) merely because you don't like the local NHL team. Maybe you just need to grow up, who can say?
Go outside, breathe some of that fresh clear Michigan air, calm down, and let the anger just float away. I don't think even the presidential election creates this much animosty! (well maybe 2000...)

That is one seriously big chip you have on your shoulder.
Seriously.....comparing The West Coast to Michigan. lol
Um...yeah. It is Vancouver Island, not Victoria Island...just to let you know. Thanks.
Um, I'm an American, born and raised in Iowa. Now I live in Vancouver and thank god everyday that I live here. It's not a political thing. It's just amazing here, not to mention an amazing (but sometimes frustrating) hockey town to live in. :)
Wow. Just vote for a logo.
I guess I'm really untouched by the comments of everyone. Perhaps it is because half the world thinks what Beli-cheat did is just fine...maybe it's because I really just don't care. I think most of you make assumptions about me and frankly I don't care. All I know is that I came on this poll thinking it was a fair vote of aesthetic value and it has turned out to be a vicious distortion of logodom. I truly apologize for my inflamatory remarks and I apologize for any insults I've made to fans of the NHL. This blog is not what I thought it was and I will no longer participate in it. Good luck to all and have a good life.
weird way to end these comments

This is easy, THe St Louis Blues easily have the most original and inspiring logo of any team in the NHL, the dynamic winged Bluenote. Nothing stands out so clear, there are no animals, or slogans, stupid looking tires or racist portraits of indigenous people, the Bluenote represents the true spirit of hockey.
The Blues will heal your soul when it is broken and long after the fall of Man...after we have eaten all of the whales......the Blues will go on forever."
Um, I listen to rock music, so I don't think blues is inspiring. Furhtermore, why does that logo capture the true spirit of hockey? It represents a type of music!
I am a Canucks fan, and I would just like to point out that it's people from everywhere voting on this thing. If we win because of Vancouverite's voting for their favourite team alone, then I should think that Vancouver SHOULD win just because that means we have more fans than the rest of the world combined. Which I'm damn sure we don't (have you seen the red sea of Calgary?)
Yes people are biased, but there have been way more comments about people complaining about the bias then people standing up for their team. I agree the Av's shoulda won, and i HATE the Av's, but it doesn't matter. You can't change people's opinions on their teams and their choice in logos just by leaving an angry comment. People will vote how they want. And if you're so sure people were spam voting for the nucks, then why don't you spam vote against them if it's so damn important to you?
I'd like to thank chris for setting up a wicked website, we'll see a lightning/nucks cup match this year.
