Thrashers Uniform News

I'm a little behind the curve on this one. The Blueland Blog at the Atlanta Thrashers' official web site posted news on the new uniforms last week. Have a read.

New Uniform News

Ben Wright
Blueland Blog

First off- my apologies for the lack of posting lately. Things have been pretty quiet on the Thrashers front, and I was on vacation. I'm back though and hopefully things will pick up soon. On to a bit of uni news.

Plenty of people seem to be wondering what the new Reebok Edge Thrashers uniforms are going to look like and multiple people have asked me when they're going to be unveiled.

Well, I have some answers, but no pictures. Despite rumors to the contrary there are no major changes planned for the uniforms. Naturally they're going to look a bit different to keep them in line with the league-wide look being rolled out by Reebok, but the logo, colors and general design are staying the same. Some of the trim and accents will change but it's not a uniform overhaul.

So when do you get to see the new threads for yourself? During training camp, which begins in mid-September (on the 13th I think, but I'll have to confirm that).

So stay patient and relax. There are no secret plots to do away the blue uniforms.

There you have it, Thrashers fans — semi-official news on your team's new uniforms. Anyone who was worried about big changes may now have their minds put at ease.

Big thanks to Mike for emailing in this information. I'm going to go ahead and place September 13 in the sidebar countdown. If the date changes, I'll update the countdown to match.

Hmmmm..

Which leaves me to ask this question that nobody else seems to want to ask..

WHY do you people like that goddawful baby-blue Atlanta uniform so much!?!?!?

I honestly don't get it. Asymmetry is not a good thing, honest.

Oh man, artymous, I couldn't agree with you more. That blue ATL jersey is one of the worst in the NHL. It was an awful third jersey, and then they adopted it as their regular dark one. Man, it's just the worst looking piece of crap ever. The sleeve design is so god-awful. The Thrashers would benefit from a jersey overhaul, contrary to what they say is going to happen.

The Wild logo is awesome... has always been a favourite of mine since it was released.

As for the blue Thrashers jersey... I can't help but agree. Having some text down the sleeve just doesn't make any good design sense. The Thrashers kinda missed the boat when the good designers were offering their help.

I'm a Thrashers fan, and I hated the pajama blue jerseys at first, but they've grown on me. I couldn't stand the asymmetry at first. But anything you see enough, you get used to. Now I kind of like them. Hate comments about them just make us Thrash fans like them more. I like our white jersey the best. I'm wondering what will happen to it in the new Rbk sweater. I wonder if they'll dump the wings under the sleeves. The original dark one was terrible. The transformers logo makes a good shoulder patch, but I'm glad they scrapped it as a main crest.

I agree with fsr. I couldn't stand them at first, but after watching a game with them, they kind of grew on me. In fact, I'd like to see a white version.

I don't mind the Thrashers home "baby blue" jerseys at all, but two things I don't like about them... one, get rid of that ugly "ATLANTA" on the left sleeve! That is like a stain on somebody's dress shirt. And change the lettering font to something more basic. I just don't like it, especially how big and spaced out the letters are. The numbers are okay.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new Thrashers jerseys look like, but as mentioned in that blog entry, I don't expect much change if any at all.
