Wash With Like Colors

Got an email today with some interesting photos. Now that all the Rbk EDGE jerseys have been unveiled, it seems like all we have left to do is nitpick. So here's something we didn't anticipate.

It looks a little like the red on Martin Gerber's Senators jersey running on the front?

It could just be the photo, but it sure looks strange to me. I hope it washes out or else he's going to go through a lot of sweaters this season. Just thought you all would enjoy that.

Thanks to Joel for the pictures!

Probably Powerade, most of the players are drinking it instead of water.

As posted above, its just Powerade. If you find pics of when he played in Carolina his white jerseys used be covered with the stuff, usually redish in color.

reminds me of that old commercial where Flyers trainer washes Lindros' luck red sock with the home whites.

at least the Powerade matches the team colours. might have to switch to blueberry if traded to Toronoto.

I thought the new jerseys were supposed to be like raincoats. Powerade shouldn't stick to it like that! That's totally going to slow him down and make him too warm!

jason - you are so right, they are suppose to repel water. i did not even think of that. it is a scam.

on that point, how are you suppose to wash it? i guess you do not have to worry about getting nachos on your elbow.

By the way, no, the jerseys are not supposed to be like raincoats. It's not as if they don't soak up any liqui. C'mon guys!

The biggest problem I have with those pictures is the fact that the Philly player practically looks like a Senator. These mish-mash jerseys are so stupid, what was wrong with regular horizontal stripes?

Like everybody above said, it was whatever sports drink Gerber was drinking. The people on the Team 1200 were talking about it for a good couple of minutes, but they made it seem like he had a bad nosebleed or something so the pictures really aren't as grotesque as I was imagining.

Never fear there is tons of technology which ensures that 10% less powerade is soaking into that jersey.

Those Sens jerseys look soooooo plain and empty seeing them in action. They really do look like practice jerseys when on the ice. Very disappointing compared to what they used to have.

I was at the game, about 14 rows back in the corner so I got a good look at Gerber's jersey. Took me a few minutes to figure out that it was Powerade too - I also thought the colours were somehow running. And the red on the front of the jersey was much more noticeable than in it is in the pictures.

Actually, it could also be the red paint from the goal. Most goals are painted fresh after every game. Marc Andre Fleury is notorious for getting the paint on his back from leaning back against the net. Does anyone know if Gerber leans on the nets between plays (or while drinking)?

On second thought, Gerber has a drinking problem (as in missing his mouth)....
