Senators Unveil New Uniforms!

The Ottawa Senators' new Rbk EDGE uniforms are here! Please view!

But wait, it gets better. Want to see Chris Neil, Brian McGrattan, Jason Spezza and Chris Kelly posing for a photo in their new threads? Look no further.

That's really all I got. The Sens unveiled their new sweaters at Scotiabank Place in front of the media and fans. Count them as the tenth team on the list. Before I go, I'll leave you with a close-up of the new shoulder logo.

Enjoy your night and be sure to check out my official Rbk EDGE gallery for all the photos I can find of these new jerseys!

First reaction is: I dunno. Not bad. Not what I was expecting. I prefer the old reds and blacks better. Looks like the 2d logo from the CIPO site was a fake, though, as the shoulder patch appears to be more of tribute to the Senators and Silver Seven of the early 20th century.

Hey, could be worst. We could have ended up with something more along the lines of the Panthers new jerseys.... :)

Anonymous said...

They don't look good! The only thing looking goood about these things is the style of the numbering. It's a shame to make such a fuss about new logo and new uniforms and then they look as if some pre-schooler designed them.

Anonymous said...

And people laughed at the Islanders jersey. This is plain ugly. Should have used the original logo.

cb said...

the sens had potential to have the best looking jersey in the league, it looks great dont get me wrong, but the shoulder logo is fucking retarded.

Anonymous said...

Would have been nice to see more gold, thats what made the Sens stand out from the 5 or so other red & black teams.

bradley said...

Looks good, certainly could've been much worse and it's nice to see a team stay simple rather than overdo it [cough] panthers [cough]. It might look better with something along the bottom, al la the caps road whites, to break up the solid space a bit, but nice nonetheless.

Unknown said...

My first reaction is not positive. I am the only guy thinking that these jerseys seem too small?

Anonymous said...

so much potential but ended up absolutely brutal. half of the concepts on this site are WAY better than what they decided on.

Anonymous said...

Eeh, not bad, but not particularly exciting either. I always liked the "profile view" logo better than the 3D one.

Anonymous said...

i also preferred the profile and the leaked profile made me hopeful. overall not bad.

Anonymous said...

The first team to use a copy of the All-Star template. The fronts are a little plain. The white one especially could use a red border/hem at the bottom.

The good news is that it looks like some teams are going back to stripes on the pants.

Anonymous said...

They might be ugly but I am sure they will beat the Leafs this year anyway

Unknown said...

The patch not fit with the lines of the jersey. The gold, witch was great, is gone. The upper corner of the helmet is too sharp, especially on the white jersey. Absolutely no unique thing about that pyjama. The red is way better looking than the white.

Their black jersey with the 3/4 view and the gold were their beat jersey ever.

Anonymous said...

According to the Sens site, the secondary, updated profile logo will appear on "classic merchandise", whatever that means. Probably t-shirts. I bet the practice jerseys will feature it.

Anonymous said...

Also - it's weird. On the players, the jerseys don't look spectacular. However the picture of just the jerseys, no one in them, they look pretty decent.

Anonymous said...

i like the international style they went with, it could use more detail, kinda looks like a practice jersey. but not bad, like the logo better, but they should keep going with the two logos for home and away.

Anonymous said...

Jersey - Nice, (not as nice as the original red, but w/e.)

LOGO - SUCKS MY FUCKING BALLS...wow its bad!

Anonymous said...

Bad bad bad. Not 100% but bad enough to convince me that I don't want to spend a 100$ on that thing. Do extra lines make frictions with air or what? RBK Edge Jerseys looks too small. What was the problem with old ones, players don't need to go faster than now...not on those small rinks. Anyway, looks like we're stuck with it.

Edward said...

Well whattya know.. that old NHL08 screenshot of the fans in the stands wasn't lying after all.

Anonymous said...

Another case where i like the old ones better. How does a weasel like garybetteman become the commishiner of the greatest game in the world?

Unknown said...

Agree with anonymous about the jersey being good looking on the new flash the sens just posted.

But it seems that on the players it don't translate well. Seems that these jerseys are made for wearing without equipment.

Anonymous said...

These are really great looking uniforms. Sharp, classic and unique. The design has more of an Original Six feel to it rather than some of the over-done duds newer teams are introducing/sporting.

Anonymous said...

are their socks like the ones from the all-star game where the stripe wraps around the back and goes down toward the ankle? i was wondering if anyone would do that.

and as for the jerseys, their kinda plain and the logo... well it sucks.

Anonymous said...

worst jersey...ever.

Anonymous said...

i like the idea of the shoulder patch but it is too plain and boring and bad like the rest of the jersey.

http://nhllogos.blogspot.com/2007/08/revisiting-senators.html

that shoulder patch is much better IMO

Anonymous said...

Im a huge sens fan, i love these jerseys, especially the home jersey, i think the new logo is a good change and the shoulder patch gives them a really authentic look.

Anonymous said...

Im happy.

Like the 3rd red jersey, and the 3rd black....it will take time to LOVE them...but im happy.

Simple is sooo much better. The worst part about the red and black was thhey were a little busy.

They are very modern looking, but moreso than any other sens jersey are reminicent of the barberpoles. The socks really do this, as do the pant stripes.

Cant wait to get one!

Anonymous said...

I love them. I think they look fantastic. The new logo is bolder, meaner, and stronger looking than the old Senator Soldier. The retro O with the red and black stripe is a nice touch harkening back to the original team.

They aren't circus-y like the Islanders, Panthers, Predators and instantly become one of the best looking jerseys in the new crop.

I'm amazed at all the negative comments I've read so far. It really makes me wonder what y'all think would be a "good" jersey.

Anonymous said...

I think they look great. I think the pissed off "3D" centurion looks much better than the profile version. I'm glad he's the official primary logo now. While I think the secondary logo is cool in that it pays homage to the Original Sens (1884-1934), it does look out of place. Maybe they should have put the profile centurion on the shoulders as a secondary logo instead.

Anonymous said...

they look pretty good so it'll be ashame when the flyers come to town and dance the pants off of 'em. i hate the sens.

Anonymous said...

Pretty Plain looking jersies wheres the GOLD??? one of the concepts on this site was real nice and mean looking...

this one looks way better lol!

You people are impossible to please. They go for a simple, classic look (unlike florida and nashville) and the majority of you ball your eyes out. The logo gets slightly tweaked, an suddenly you think it becomes preschooler material. These jerseys are the best new ones I've seen so far (except for boston whose design isn't really new). They could have done far worse, i.e. Islanders.

Anonymous said...

ok you have to be a moron not to like these jerseys. those jerseys are crazy nice. i love the sides and the logo is very sharp.

the old reds (?) were the worst jerseys in the history of the league. Definitely an upgrade.

But is it me, or do all the Edge jerseys feature logos that are freakin' ginormous?

Anonymous said...

i think the new logo and jerseys are both very sharp. the shoulder patch is also creative and a nice nod to the team's history. but, as some people have already noticed, the jerseys just don't seem to look good on the players with the equipment on and all.

Anonymous said...

is it me or are the numbers on the back of the jersey ginormous? other than that i think they look pretty good.

Anonymous said...

I finally figure out why all these "new" jerseys look so weird and ugly. It sbecause for 90% of them, they left the bottom of the jersey without any stripes or anything which were traditionally on all the old jerseys. That made the "new" jerseys have too much space of 1 colour from the logo down making it very plain looking !

Kronis said...

Not a bad looking jersey. The shoulder patch is stupid though. While Ottawa fans will say it's an 'O' for Ottawa, others will say it's a zero, as in 'zero Cups'.

Anonymous said...

I think the reason the new RBK jerseys look weird on players is because the jerseys are tighter around the shoulders and torso area but then flare out around the hip area to cover up the much larger hip pads on the pants. I think it makes them look like they have wide hips (like a woman). The old jerseys were bigger and more flowing, so it went straight down from the shoulders to the hips

Anonymous said...

A little bit too plain for my liking...i actually preferred some of the fan concepts over this design...and they look like practice jerseys! awful!

Anonymous said...

After looking at the jerseys again, after a couple hours, I really really like the white jerseys.

Anonymous said...

wow, they look akward on the players, the sens will look real bad on the ice

Anonymous said...

I love these! They were able to create something new and modern while keeping the same sort of vibe as their last uniforms. I love the little tribute to the old Senators with the shoulder patch. Maybe it will give the Sens some Stanley Cup karma.

Miss. Scarlett said...

Actually, I didn't like them at first because I never really warmed to the logo and I thought the jerseys were boring, but I think simpler is definitely better. They didn't make it too messy and complicated with pointless colour blocking and piping and the arms at least have some visual interest.

I have to say, I thought it was great they used the old school silver sevens logo for the shoulder patch.

Anonymous said...

All I can think of when I see these is Adam Sandler singing 'Red Hooded Sweatshirt' on SNL... why, check out the colar/neck of the warrior dood.

lol

Anonymous said...

I like them. I'm apprehensive, but I like them. Wish they had a bit more black/gold, and had kept the side profile of old to some capacity, but I like them.

Love the heritage shoulder crests.

Anonymous said...

they look good on the hangers, but not on the players. those guys look fat!

RobbPeppertree said...

The look metrosexual. Which is exactaly what I was affraid of. Where's the fucking bottom!?

Anonymous said...

i luv the way the jersey looks when noone is wearing them but it looks awful on players
i don't care how much this will reduce hooking, holding and wind resistance, it's an eyesore

Anonymous said...

I like the new logo, but the jerseys need some horizontal striping at the bottom. The profile at the sides of the jersey, under the arms, is pretty SENSeless. The designs that I saw earlier on this site, which incorporated the new logo looked much better. However, I don't agree with those people saying these are the worst jerseys ever. I'm sure they'll be better than most.

Anonymous said...

They are right in stating that Hockey fans are pretty passionate. Amazing how emotional people get regarding a jersey design. Personally I think that they are pretty classy- but I know that when I am watching them play (Or even when I played) I am not finding myself say "How pretty they look in their new threads." I am watching hockey. I understand that we have to have an attachment to things, and we are more apt to support things we like (Especially to the eye) but come on, stop being so picky!!!

ewww just ewww, the old were better

I like them. I think they are my favourite new ones so far, and I don't even like the Sens.

Anonymous said...

i like the profile logo better but i do think the tweak on the new primary is better. and with the jerseys i thought they looked a little plain but with the uniform as a whole i think they look awesome (with the striped pants and socks)and the shoulder patch is insanely good i was hoping for the "O" to come back. with only the jersey it would look better with a horizontal stripe but the vertical stripe flows down to the pants and a horizontal stripe would disrupt that so i can deal with it. gonna look unreal hoisting the cup too.

Anonymous said...

So was the goal of this uniform to make every player look as if he's got a nice beer gut going? It's especially apparent in the road whites. God, these Rbk Edge jerseys are all terrible.

Anonymous said...

...at least they got rid of the black, red, white swirl jersey. THAT was the worst jersey ever created. They looked like a clown troupe in those things. The new jerseys are better IMO...and Im not a sens fan.

Anonymous said...

Let's see...

- I prefer the new profile logo better than this updated 3D one.

- I don't like the red (too many teams wear red) but at least that horrible swooping black stripe is gone

- I don't know who's idea it was to make hockey jerseys with no bottom trim. You're an idiot, whoever you are. Bottom trim completes a hockey jersey. See Boston's simple design.

- I give the O shoulder logo a meh.

- Hate the stuff on the sides, under the arm pit. Brought to us by the same idiot that doesn't like bottom trimming I assume.

Overall grade: 6/10, only because they're an improvement over the old too busy red sweaters. I would have liked to see the black third jersey with the gold trim instead, complete with the new profile logo on the front and the peace tower on the shoulder.

Anonymous said...

Being a Sens fan,I wasn't there for the unveiling but this new look is not bad in pictures. Like alot of comments here, i, too, miss the gold. but lets see how it will REALLY look on HD tv or live at a Sens game.
The Silver Seven patch is a neat tribute to the past but i think they could of find a better spot for it than the shoulders.

Anonymous said...

As a Sens fan here are my thoughts:
-I don't mind the new logo, I liked the old one and they tweaked it a little better.
-Love the old school "O" for the shoulder patches (not everything has to be flashy)
-Like the colours
-Dislike the design under the armpits (looks like a practice jersey).
-The jersey's look kinda of bland and out dated, why it doesn't even have a white/black stripe on the bottom trim is beyond me. (Like the Calgary flames ones).
-Wish the red was a little darker.

Overall they're alright, although I think they could have done alittle better.

Anonymous said...

my question is what has made the senators decide that the 3/4 senator logo is better than the profile view?? They have been favouring it for years and now they have just gotten rid of the profile view completely. Everyone I talk to though prefers the profile logo!! Wake up sens!!! These are ok jerseys, but they need the FIRST logo back, and need a little more flare. Love the vertical stripes on the pants, the shoulder patch and the numbers. Bring back the old logo...tweak it if you have to...but it is way better!!

Unknown said...

I was honestly expecting them to use the updated profile image leaked a while back. It looked badass. Simple as that. While I do like the chosen 3/4 logo, I think the profile would have been better received.

Who knows, maybe Ottawa is just living up their high from going to the finals, and as a Calgary homeboy, I can relate.

Anonymous said...

Childish. I don't like them at all. The new primary logo looks much better on paper. The shoulder patch is nice, but it's the only one positive I found on this ugly jersey.

Anonymous said...

Some people think the Senators went for a classy or traditional jersey?? What planet are you from??My God these things look horrible. The players look quite gay.I hope the Senators get their ass kicked every night! These look very lame. The funny thing is that the shoulder patch is actually very cool and yet some people think that the patch sucks..I guess some people are just wrong on everything.

Anonymous said...

How very unimaginative and un-hockey and reebok prescribed. Rubbish, the fan efforts are better.

Anonymous said...

This is pathetic. We waited 3 months for a glorified practice jersey. I wanted to see something different, but this has to be my biggest disappointment as a Senators fan. I just find the lack of horizontal striping anywhere on this jersey frustrating. The only I do like is the stripes on the pants and the O on the shoulder. I think this abortion has me questioning my loyalty to this team.

Anonymous said...

I like that they used to original senators logo on their shoulders. However, on the whole, I find this uniform to be rather boring. It needs some type of horizontal stripe. Also, those uniforms look way too tight on them. Especially the socks. The players look like they aren't feeling comfortable in them.

Anonymous said...

I don't like them. It just looks like a 3rd jersey. They also kinda look like short sleeved football jerseys.

The players don't look happy in them. Any yes, they do look too small.

Anonymous said...

I don't like them AT ALL. They look horrid.

Anonymous said...

I haven't gone back to look, but isn't this the exact design as the "leaked" Pens jersey? It's at least REALLY close.

Also, the Sens should have gone back to the c1993 black unis. Those were my favorite Sens jerseys.

Unknown said...

AWESOME. Modern, but simple and classic.

Anonymous said...

I like , better than i thought...

-I dont mind the new look from Reebok that changed those horizontal stripes, defenitely think (the no bottom stripes)it loooks good on those jerseys

-people that say they look like practice jerseys are so wrong, you guys are just relating to the reebok jerseys thata ctually looked too good for practicing

-As a proud canadian and living in the capital, i defenitely miss the PEace tower on the shoulder

-i really like the striping on the pants. maybe the the Silver Sevens logo coul have been on the pants ???

-the thing i miss most is the the lack of gold, like someone else was saying , was separating us from other red balck white teams across the league

- logo just got better, its funny because it is not a big change, at the ceremony when they unveiled the logo everybody was looking but were maybe not noticing the differences, i couldve maybe started a slowclap or something eheheh

-im glad someone used those socks like the allstar game, dont know if lots of teams will turn to that, different doesnt mean bad

- number are big but kind of thin-looking

-we the nice run we had with the red jerseys and that "be red" slogan, its normal hOme are red, but i think the whites look better

- for the fit of the jerseys, mcGrattam just seemd a tall skinny guy

So the new jerseys overall to me are better than what they had (funny loking reds with that weird stripe) , whites are nicer

Lots of people showEd up last night for the ceremony (or free sens army tshirts)

with all the hype, tis too bad the jerseys werent for sale, they wouldve sold lots

i will say again, these jerseys were the best concept for the sens (to my opinion)http://bp3.blogger.com/_r8tWGVHrjGI/RsNlMtB0aEI/AAAAAAAABK4/-ozGNgYS3l0/s1600-h/OttawaSenatorsRBKEdge.bmp

(the ones with the middle horizontal golden laurier stripes a la canadiens' 3rd jerseys)

And this i have to say to RGM, what a trooper you are with those comments ehehe GO SENS SO !

The logo is okay. I like the retro second logo but as others have said, it looks out of place on this jersey.

Someone already pointed out why these jerseys don't look good - THERE IS NO HORIZONTAL STRIPING ON THE WAIST. This is a problem with other new jerseys this year as well. Without this feature, the jersey looks like a PRACTICE jersey.

I would really like to see them use the secondary logo and design something traditional along the lines of the Canadians jerseys.

can all the leaf fans get off so we can get some real opinions on here...
Anyways, onto the real point of this, the uniforms, which personally have already grown on me, their simple and clean cut, i do really miss the side profile though. if you loook at their backs, both the jerseys and the sox, they have a nice sharp look to it which is pretty nice. i dunno, i still prefer the old uniforms, but these really arn't as bad as everyone complaining about.

Anonymous said...

hey dude LOVE the site. but shouldnt you put the senators under a team with a logo change?

The most recent comment: Glad you love the site, but I'm only human and I hadn't gotten a chance to add them yet. I've done it now. Enjoy!

As a Sabres fan I can say...Hate the team, love the logo. They look pretty good and I would slide them into second place behind Boston in my RBK Edge jersey power rankings.

RBK still SUCKS for what they are doing. Who cares if a regular fan in a jersey weigh a couple ounces less after a beer is spilled on him?

Chris can I link to your blog? And would you vice versa?

I think these are amazing. Clean and mean. Kinda Team Canada style.

Nothing fancy, before, the bunch of jerseys didn't aid Ottawa in establishing an identity on the ice.

These are sweet. As for how they look on the players, get used to it, the tight jerseys look strange in general, we'll get used to em.

Anonymous said...

Tuns of people dislike them but the more I see them the more I love them. I saw them in person and they really look good! I love the vertical stripes on the pants, it makes them look less plain. I'm very pleased!

Unknown said...

I think they are pretty good. I know that for me, the RBK Edge just seems to ruin all the jerseys, but with the inevitablke conclusion that the jersey will remain, I have lowered my standards.

Here are my criteras:

1) Likeness to previous jerseys
- Well, they look like the red jersey that already had the 3D logo and they have a vintage shoulder patch. Makes it for me.

2) No vertical stripes (the ones going from under the arm to the collar)
- Again, that jersey passes here.

I know I'll get used to them, and my initial reaction was simply "Not bad, not bad..." Nothing less, but nothing more.

I hope the Canadiens don't scrap their jersey like this. I am scared. To death.

Anonymous said...

I like the update but to be totally honest I like the profile version much, much more. It's more classic and has a real feel of tradition.

Anonymous said...

My first reaction: It looks like the leaked Penguins jersey

Anonymous said...

I don't understand why people are getting so worked up over these new jerseys? I personally love the updated logo, didn't at first but it grows on you. My only complaint is that there is too much blank space near the bottom.
I personally just hate to see the old red ones go. Without a doubt the single best jersey in the league, I loved them. I like these too but please to god put something on the bottom of the jersey!
Go Sens Go!

Anonymous said...

Could they have made them more boring??? I yawn everytime I see those jerseys! I might as well take that picture of their new jerseys and blow it up poster size and hang in on the foot of my bed so I can fall asleep easier. I'm a Sens fan and trust me, I'm not buying that boring silk for $100 when I can get a Sens t-shirt that looks exactly the same for $20.

Anonymous said...

I don't know why everyone dislikes the new jersey of the Ottawa Senators when most teams jersey's aren't much better. For Exemple the new logo of the sabres doesn't quite resemble a Buffalo nor sabres. For me, I enjoy the new logo, except the chin looks too big, really love the shoulder patch for a tribute to the Original Ottawa Senators. What I don't like about the jersey itself, boring, nothing spectacular to look at unlike the black jersery with the gold trim at the end. Overall - Slight downgrade from last years Jersey.

Anonymous said...

Here's what I think about this design, and all of the jerseys in general. Traditionalists have to try to come to terms with what has been released thus far. I've been an NHL fan for 30+years and I can honestly say that this was an update that needed to happen to the league in general. While I'm not thrilled about the fact that I'm going to have to shell out $300 for a new Heatley jersey, it's a part of the evolution of the sport. It happens, so deal with it.

That said, the only team whose new shirts I like more (thus far) are the Capitals, but I'm a long time Caps fan as well, so I'm partial to the old reds.

Anyway, they look great, and I think that negative judgment should be reserved until we see them in action. The guys wearing them don't seem to be complaining too much, so they can't be all that bad...

Anonymous said...

- the O shoulder pads: AWESOME
- why keep the 3/4-view logo concept? It looks better than the earlier one they had, but the original profile-face logo was downright classic. It actually made them look like they made the Original 6 an Original 7.

At least they still have 'senator' confused with 'legionnaire'; having a jersy logo of an old toga-wearing man would suck.

Anonymous said...

It's a simple design that will stand up over time much better than the overdone unis. As a Senator fan I am SO HAPPY that the 2D Trojan Condom logo has finally been killed.

Anonymous said...

It's all right... the red one is a vast improvement over the previous design, which was just too busy. Still, I liked the black 3rd the best, as well as the Peace Tower shoulder emblem.

The retro logo on the shoulder just looks out of place like that. The main crest is a significant tweak of the older version, but it's not all that different.

The striping could've been a little better, I think. I'm a sucker for traditional striping.

Anonymous said...

Simple, straightforward, classy, AND contemporary. The best new jersey in the NHL (not counting the Wings, Rangers, etc). It would have been easy to have overdone this jersey with the new logo design and extra piping, etc., but the designers resisted that urge and that can be the toughest part. Excellent job.

Unknown said...

The jersey is alright but any attempt to make it look good is washed away by the fact it will be on the backs of the Ottawa Schmuckators. I hope these guys fall right out the gates this year.
