2007-08 NHL Team Logo Changes
All right, so we know all 30 clubs are getting brand spanking new uniforms this fall with the league converting everyone to the new Rbk EDGE jerseys. The question is who will be getting new logos to match? It's difficult to keep track. Here's what I know or have heard through solid or weak sources divided into three categories.
"Definite" means the team has either announced publicly or to retailers a logo change is coming. In most cases, they've also released an announcement date. "Probable" means that according to multiple sources, a change is coming but nothing is set in stone and no announcement date has been released. "Maybe But Maybe Not" indicates a logo change has been mentioned by people mouthing off about things they don't know. The thing is though, some of them do know what they're talking about and I want to have all my ducks in a row. That was all rather self-explanatory.
DEFINITE
• Vancouver Canucks (Aug 01)
• Washington Capitals (Jun 22)
PROBABLE
• Boston Bruins
• Ottawa Senators
• San Jose Sharks
• Tampa Bay Lightning
MAYBE BUT MAYBE NOT
• Dallas Stars
• Toronto Maple Leafs
Now I'm creating one more category. It's the teams I think should consider a logo change this season.
CHANGE, PLEASE
• Anaheim Ducks
• Buffalo Sabres
• Chicago Blackhawks
• Edmonton Oilers
• New York Rangers

How can you say that the Chicago Blackhawks change their logo? It is easily one of the most prolific logos in the NHL. It's a classic, and I am willing to be that it will stay the same for a LONG time to come.
You're probably right about that, but it comes down to a personal preference and its just not one of my favorites. Sorry. Though, to be fair, one look at it and I think just about any person in North America would think hockey. I too would bet that it won't be going anywhere.
My only suggestion would be to update it the way the Bruins recently updated theirs. Nothing major, just small but significant upgrades. Thanks for commenting!
I heard that when Reebok came to the GM meetings and suggested that everyone change their jersey styles, the GM of Chicago - Tallon I believe - just walked out of the room! He said that there was no way that the team / owner would want to change anything with their logo. Along the same lines, I've been told that MTL is keeping their horizontal stripes - 100% positive. I guess there are just some things 'big market' can't change.

And why would they want to? I think those are great jerseys and while not everyone should go the horizontal stripes route, I think its worth having a couple of the storied clubs stick to what their fans have known forever. Thanks, G!
Well, about those 'storied' clubs - apparently the Maple Leafs are not one of the original six to want to keep horizontal lines and shake things up a bit. I heard from a source that the Leafs new RBK Edge White jersey is more like a practice jersey than anything else. COMPLETELY white with their blue leaf logo. Maybe it will help them pull off a few more wins this year? ;)

One can only hope, right? That sounds like an interesting choice, going all white. I'll be curious to see how that looks. I've also heard they plan to make some modifications to the Maple Leaf logo, but it's all just rumors for now.
