Chris, you sent a little too far with graying out Gerber's mask. It looks like it is just black....
okay, I am a dork. I could not resist.
Surprisingly, Gerber is actually worse than his mask.
I notice that both guys (as well as many others) have throat guards. Are the goalies prohibited from decorating throat guards? Could be a new trend if the league allows. I guess having it clear makes it easier to see pucks directly below.
I heard Gerber had a mask painted over the summer, but decided at the beginning of the year that he would wait to wear it, (because at the start of the season he was on a winning streak) but i am confused as to why he hasn't started wearing his new painted one yet, because the team isn't doing that well, so wouldn't he get over that old superstition, and start wearing his new one?

You are right. He was going to start wearing the painted one after the team cooled off a bit. However, he had trouble with how the mask fit and decided to stay with the black one until next year.
I like the black mask . Simplicity is great.
Its not my favourite Garon mask but its nice. His Kings mask and Habs mask were great.
Gerber has a nice Sens mask, too bad its not in this contest.

You're right--the reason many goalies don't wear neck guards is the way that they obscure their view when trying to cover pucks, so I expect they'll always be clear.
(though what ever happened to those rigid bill-like guards that goalies with cage helmets used to wear?)
i voted for gerber for sh*ts and giggles.
Actually, Gerber keeps the black mask because fans have started to call him "Darth Gerber".
The nickname proved to catch on so much that the sound effects guys at ScotiaBank Place play the Star Wars Darth Vader theme song whenever Gerber wins a game.
i would have voted Gerber if he went against Sanford (i hate the creepy sandman) but Garon has that nice blue in it. i like!
I like Garon and his mask, but I'm voting for Gerber. I like the throwback feel.
