Poll: Canucks '85 vs Canucks '78

vs
Vancouver
CANUCKS '85
Vancouver
CANUCKS '78

REMEMBER: You're choosing the WORST logo!

Obviously this will be another controversial poll as I've already heard the argument that the 1978 graphic isn't a logo but rather a striping design. But just to reiterate, you guys chose what was going to be involved in this tournament — not me. The reason I'm letting it slide, however, is that it's featured on the front of the jersey prominently enough to consider it somewhat of a secondary logo design. To each his own. Happy voting!

Place your vote and then feel free to leave a comment as to how you came to your decision. Tell all your friends to drop in and vote! The more voices heard, the more accurate the results!

I will always be sentimental towards the Double V. I wouldn't say the V was ugly, but very gaudy. I always loved the home yellow. Back in the 70s and 80s, there were a lot of teams to sport home white and road blue uniforms. The Canucks' home yellow and road black was very distinctive and original. Furthermore, home yellow and road black, with red trimming on both, compliment one another. The problem was mainly the V design and all the losing. Nowadays, with teams wearing light on the road, all we see is white, white, and white. As for the skate crest, I LOVED IT. It was a speeding skate, not a downhill skate. Ah, the good old days of Steamer, Tiger, King Richard, HAAARROOOLLLD!, young Trevor, and the Russian Rocket.

I'm definitely in the minority here, but I've always loved the Flying Skate (a.k.a. Plate o' Spaghetti). I've actually been wondering if anyone ever made any concept jerseys with the Flying Skate in a different colour scheme? That might be interesting. Anyway, it's vastly superior to the double V regardless

Both ugly, the V is uglier.

I prefer the V design over the disaster that's the '85 logo.

Just out of curiosity, what main logo did Vancouver with the "striping" V? Was it the downhill skate? The stick in the rink?

Jerm Deeks;

It was the skate. They had it on the shoulder.

I haven't seen the results so far, but I've got to imagine the skate probably won't be moving on to the 2nd round... and it's a shame 'cause it's such a worthy candidate. But yeah, even the skate isn't as bad as the V.

...and just for the record, I loved the old yellow jerseys with the skate logo. (Hated the logo itself, but the jerseys were awesome.) And Andre is right that the league needs more yellow jerseys.

I agree somewhat with Andre. I also think the V is gaudy and tacky but not ugly. The jersey had character (especially the home yellow).

The skate logo is good enough for a secondary logo, but don't think much of it as a main logo.

voting for the skate. well aware i'm in the minority on this one.

The skate may well be one of the best logos of all time, thank goodness its facing the V.
