LETS GO CANES!
Come on, the sens are to original to vote against. LETS GO SENS!
50/50? I'm scandalized!
I think Ottawa's 2nd is one of the best in the league (and there are some good ones out there). The Canes' is definitely second rate.
Yes, I know the Senators logo is the original Senators, but for historically accuracy, the patch really means:
ZERO CUPS!!!!
I hate to get into arguments, Bryan, but when that logo was Ottawa's primary logo in the early part of the century, the Senators were raking in the Cups. I'm voting for Ottawa because of its historical meaning, as well as keeping it a simple secondary logo. Some team just complicate their jerseys and make them look weird with secondary logos.
im thinking that just because a logo is historical and has been around for a long time doesn't mean it's a good logo. I personally really love the cane's alternate and would love to see it used as a primary some day

It's an O. At least the Hurricanes second is a hurrican flag.
Senators is nice, but compared to Hurricanes, it is boooooooooring...
Both are fine, but I like Ottawa's nod to the past.
sir barbeton,
how long have the current senators played in ottawa AND how many cups have they won?
looking through the bracket for the first/prelim. rounds, to me every match-up has a clear winner, except this one. I think both of these logos are great. The simplicity and historical aspect of the Sens is great. The hurricane flag blowing in the wind is also so great, in fact I feel it's a better logo than their primary. I can't decide, so I just wont vote on this one.
Bryan;
As an unbias hockey fan, (im a detroit fan).
Since the senators have been in the league, they've had 14 chance to win the Stanley cup, (which is a far cry from Toronto and Chicago, and even other cities like Los Angeles, and Vancouver to name a few), and there has only been 9 teams to actually win the Cup; (Anaheim, Carolina, Colorado Twice, Dallas, Detroit Three Times, New Jersey Three Times, New York, Montreal, and Tampa Bay). There have been 29 teams, (or 32 counting Hartford, Quebec, And Winnipeg), competing for the cup in those years. So they're with more than 2 thirds of the teams in the NHL in the no cups since they entered club. The logo is a tie to what is regarded as the FIRST Dynasty in HOCKEY according to the Hall of Fame. If teams like Toronto, Montreal are allowed to count their cups from that time period,(Heck Detroit counts their cups from a time period when their was a 1 in 6 chance in winning it), so should Ottawa. That puts them in the Top Five, (I believe third or fourth), in Most Stanley Cups Won. Pretty good for a team that wasnt around for 60 years. I will always have respect for Ottawa as that is where "the Captain" grew up. Better Logo?? Ottawa's historically linked one over the team that barely paraded when they won it all.
hockeyfan,
im sorry but i cannot accept your response. the current senators were founded in 1991. the original senators last played in 34 and then moved to st. louis for one year. so 57yrs later, ottawa gets a hockey team again that has only been to the SCs once. in response to the Toronto, Detroit and Montreal teams counting their cups, those teams are still around aren't they? so how can you incorporate history if the senators are two different identities? it doesn't make hockey sense and reduces their credibility.
Bryan,
Are you aware just how small Ottawa was in the early 20th century. I mean hell its pretty small now! One of the smallest in the NHL! But it was BY FAR the smallest in the NHL in their early era. It was actually half the size of the second smallest city that owned a hockey franchise. (believe it or not, toronto). It finally folded as it was physically unable to pay any stars, as the team's tiny market couldn't afford to watch their games. As it was in the era of the great depression, and then World War 2. The city has almost always lobbied for an NHL team, but being such a small market it took time to get. I realize that the current NHL team has no ties to the older team, but i mean really? do any of the others? Toronto for one example: None of the same players as in their early years. They count their Stanley Cup victories from when they were called the Toronto Arenas, and the St. Patricks, (somehow i think that qualifies as a different identity). They do not play in the same arena. So other than continously playing, and being the professional hockey team in Toronto, there is really no connection. So you're awfully picky when you state that their are no ties. Here are a few ties for you, they're both the only professional hockey teams to play in Ottawa, and a former member of the original Ottawa senators was a key member in bringing the team back.
hockeyfan-
barely paraded at all??
how can you say that if you weren't even there?
hocekyfan,
do the senators have stanley cup championship banners at their arena with any of these logos you see on this site:

EXCLUDING the 2007/08 "O" Patch.
HA you just pwned yourself... thats why this logo is great... it commemorating the past success of the historical ottawa senators franchise... we WONT not include the "O logo" because it is included in our logos now, so yes I do see one of those logos on the banners of the Scotiabank place.. so therefore the logo makes sense... i agree, we don't have a stanley cup yet.. but isn't this a logo competition, not a who is the better franchise? oh, by the way check out the eastern conference standings... and i think this logo stands for a whole lot more than a flag blowing in the wind.. it looks better than the "S-shield" in the past... although i was a fan of the maple-leaf/parliment one on the black third jersey... either way sens win hands down because its graphicly simplistic and sound and is symbolic of the past relic of the ottawa senators success..
i like how ottawa went throwback with the secondary logo but the vicious warning flag is sick just because the sense that it warns the other teams that a hurricane is comin thats why i like the flags around the jerseys as well
ira,
thank you for admitting that your franchise hasn't won the cup yet. for others it is hard to understand false pretenses.
im happy that the ZERO CUPS logo is eliminated.
Yes Bryan,
It's safe to say that neither team has any stanley cups associated with them since the league had 6 teams...
I think they both suck.
