Rethinking The 'Hawks

I seemed to have inadvertantly caused quite a stir with my forward-thinking approach to NHL jerseys. Specifically, the fact that I'm not in love with the New York Rangers' jerseys. But that's all right, people will never agree on everything. That's what keeps things interesting.

Just the other day a reader emailed me this idea he had to make over the Chicago Blackhawks' sweater. Prepare to be offended, ultra-traditionalists.

Don't shoot the messenger. Please.

It's not that I think this is better than the current red one, because I don't. But what about a third jersey for the future? You know, just something extra.

No? I didn't think so. Worth a shot, though.

That would probably be the sweetest looking jersey in the league if the 'Hawks ever adopted it.

Speaking of 'Hawks, I think that, as in college hockey, they should be barred from the playoffs due to their racially charged name.

Wait, that would mean they'd have to make the playoffs! j/k!

Anyway, Chris, love the blog. It's pretty much the sweetest thing on the internet these days.

Green? Ouch!

Adding green or yellow to a third jersey might not be terrible, but I don't think it's needed.

Jeff - what exactly is racially charged about the Blackhawks' name? It honors Chief Blackhawk, whose name was adopted for a US army infantry division. Wanna try again?

That name is offensive to my city, but offensive to white people because anything that makes you think of indians here makes you squirm (government protects them , they do whatever they want e.g put up tollbooths, blockade people from cabins)

The jersey isnt bad though, it would look good if it got done professionaly like some of the ones i have made that could look good professionaly

Gross. The only third jersey they should have is either the one with the old stripes, or the black ones they had last year. Tried, tested and true.

I don't think the name "Blackhawks" is what's offensive here...
