The Unveiling
Friday, September 14. The Stars unveiled their jerseys at a fan event in Dallas.

Home vs. Road
Home: Black. Road: White. The two sweaters are similar in striping pattern only, but are otherwise very different.

The black home jerseys feature two thin white-gold stripes with a wide gap between them around the elbows. The word "DALLAS" is white letters with gold trim is arched above the player's sweater number on the chest. The primary logo is featured as a shoulder patch. The collar is white with black trim on the inside.

The white road jerseys feature two thin green-gold stripes with a wide gap between them around the elbows. Gold-green trim wraps around the waist at the very bottom of the sweater. The secondary logo is featured as a shoulder patch. The collar is green with gold trim on the inside and the primary logo serves as the crest.

In The Details
The Stars are one of a handful of teams with crests differing between the home and road sweaters. They also join the Rangers as the only teams to have a jersey without a logo on the front. The same numbering and lettering style has been retained.

New & Old
The new uniforms have been designed completely different from the old ones. The star shape that spanned the entire sweater is now gone and there isn't even a logo on the dark jersey — which is now almost completely black instead of green.

Standard FAQ
Numbers on the front? Yes.
Laces at the collar? No.

NHLToL Editorial by Chris
First off, kudos to the Stars for trying something unique. The black jerseys look simply amazing. While I wouldn't want it to become a league-wide trend, the large number on the front gives the sweaters a great classic feel. However, I'm not as much a fan of the white jerseys. One thing this team missed the boat on was the striping. The stripes are way too thin and do not stand out like they should. To sum up, the minimalist design, I feel, works well on the black jerseys, but not so much on the whites. Still, I feel like it's overall a very nice uniform. 4/5

These are actually among my favourite jerseys, although I would like to have a little more green in the homes. It's just a nice, clean look.

Your a real hypocrite on this one...one of the biggest reasons you gave the Rangers jersey a low grade is because you hate the writing on the jersey, you wanted a big logo. Now, with Dallas, you say not having a logo is really cool...and btw, I'm a Sharks, not a Rangers fan.

Mike - Chris has been contradicting himself time and time again with these reviews, there's little point in calling it out anymore.

Wordmarks should NOT be used in substitute for a logo...and adding the jersey number with it...even worse, makes the sweater look like a basketball jersey. Maybe Bettman designed the home sweater?

You really think it's a contradiction? There's text on the front of both jerseys, but they don't look anything alike. The Stars jersey handles it very well. I feel like the Rangers could do better.

These "contradictions" you guys are referring to don't really make sense to me. No two of these jerseys look alike. So saying I should rate on the basis of an idea as opposed what the sweater actually looks like doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

But if you notice anything else, feel free to ask and I'd be happy to explain. Thanks for the comments!

I love it. I don't mind numbers on the front, in fact, I'm almost in favour of them, so that doesn't bother me on these. The Sharks' black alternates last season were probably the best jersey in the league, just an almost entirely black, minimalist jersey, something the NHL hasn't really seen since the Kings went back to purple. That's exactly what these are, simple and all black, and that just works so well. I heard a Stars player talk about how intimidating it would be to play against a team in all black, and that seems to have hit the point exactly, there's a big difference between skating against a team in red and green Christmas colours and a team that's almost entirely in black. The road jerseys aren't bad either, simple and an almost retro feel to the stripping, not as dynamic as the blacks, but what can you do (use the intimidation of the black jerseys to demand Bettman allow them to wear them in all games?)

Those black jerseys are awsome.

Having the city on the home jersey is DUMB.

i really do hope they bring back the green unis as a alternate for 08-09 cause i still like that jersey

They put the city name on the home jersey in an attempt to try to be Dallas' team. The Mavs did it too.The Mavs have Dallas on home and away. In this town 1st and 2nd are the Cowboys. The best any other team could be is 3rd.Cowboy practice gets more coverage than Ranger games.Plus with the Cowboys moving to Arlington, the Mavs and Stars are saying "Hey, look at us, we actually play in Dallas". Just so you all know. I would have made sense for most teams to do the city name on the away, but not here.

First of all the Stars jersey of last year was one of my favorites. I was appalled that they changed them and not for the better. The black jeresy is too black and the white jersey is too white, kinda the same problem the ducks have. I really liked the star pattern and thought it gave the jerseys a lot of imagination and class, and now its gone. The white jersey almost looks naked with out it. 2 and half stars out of 5.

Ok, so when these were first unveiled during training camp, I thought "meh, not bad, but not great, either". But as the year went on, I got more and more used to them. Now, I actually REALLY like them.

They grow on you... kinda like a fungus

Unfortunately this is the worst home jersey in the league. No exceptions.

It is my understanding that most teams have the team name on their home jerseys and the city name on the away jerseys. Do fans in Dallas really need to know where their team is from? It just seems backward on these jerseys.
