Kings..

What can I say, I love Silver and Purple, and quite frankly, an industrial over-detailed monochrome wing on a wheel does nothing for me and never has... history or not.

Honestly, I find both of these logos to be incredibly boring.. but I voted for Red Wings because I like red and white more than purple..

I've realized that the Kings logo is the only symetrical logo in all the NHL!!!

c'mon, seriously. this shouldn't even be a contest. while i'm all for updating logos from time to time, the red wings have one of those classic, untouchable logos. and, to refer to the rules of paul lukas from uniwatch, anything that uses purple is disqualified. so, sorry, kings (or queens) you're out.

That was a pretty ignorant comment, if you ask me. Just because they use purple as a color does not mean they're "queens".

The Kings win for using original color - something hard to find in today's NHL. I'm still waiting for a team to don something that's brown.

The Leafs used to wear brown pants and gloves in the 20's.

Oh yeah, and Red Wings. By a huge margin.

i remember trying to draw that winged wheel as a kid. it was freaking impossible!

haha Yeah, I know. I was just saying that it's a good color and lacking in the sport. The last jersey I remember with brown on it was the logo on the Bruin's 3rds.

as a avs fan, this is a tough and brutal choice. i'll take the kings over wings b/c of creativity.

In response to anyone who gives the point to the Kings for creativity, consider this:

Look at the shading on the inside of the crown. Now look at the Thrashers, Coyotes, Avs, Panthers, Predators, Senators, and Sabres logos and tell me the Kings' is creative.

I'm kinda sick of this harsh shading fad.

I'm a Blackhawks fan and hate all things detoilet, but their logo is classic and is way better than the kings junk

as much as it pains me, i had to vote for no-good low-down nasty evil filthy detroit. the kings logo is just very poor, i like their alternate shield logo better. or better yet, the old crown from the yellow and purple days.

Hmm I actually love both the kings logos. Detroit while classic I think is not as good

Finally, justice will be done for the shaft the Wings got during the regular season of this logo tournament.

k.d., i stand by my remarks. the other logos that you've mention helps enhance each clubs logo a lot better than not having that shading or rather being cartoonish.

your argument is redundant and frivolous.

Anonymous said...

kings is better. detroit can only win if they go back to the logo they used in the 1930's, which was sick. http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?lo=240

The Red Wings. Along with the Blackhawks, one of the 2 best logos in the league.

Anonymous said...

the one they used in the 1930's is basically the same thing

There are very few logos in the sports world that exemplify its town and its team as much as the red wings. So much so that this logo has only gone through two changes in almost 80 years. It's complex but at the sametime simplistic. Only upgrade I can see is mag rims HA! Seriously, this is a champion of a design and ranks up there as quite possibly the best in all professional sports...the Kings crown logo is very amateurish and lacks any kind of unique ID.

The Winged Wheel is classic, plus it goes the extra mile (no pun intended) to refer to the city of Detroit... I've tried hard, but can't possibly think of one to replace it... I don't even really know how one goes about updating it (Unless you put a puck in the hubcap... that theory seems to have helped the canes... cheap shot, yes, but I don't care!!) It's a classic logo and deserves to win... My Vote: Red Wings

I'm a huge Kings fan, but our logo sucks. The Wings' logo is a classic.

The reason the Kings use purple is because purple is a royal colour. Personally I dont care for their current logo and wish the Kings would use their old crown in the purple and black...iunno...just like to see it. As for the voting, Redwings all the way. As a Leaf fan and a hockey fan, I cant bring myself to vote against a great logo that has stood the test of time and will continue to do so. Theres a reason they've kept it for so long, and its not because its bad.

the crown looks cool, I lke the purple better than that silver/black garbage--BUT THE WINGS LOGO IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS!

uh what abbout the florida panthers

uh what abbout the florida panthers

The logo is not symetrical...Look at the back (bottom) paws.

The Wings logo is awesome!

The Kings logo is great too, but not enough to beat the flying red wheel.

Anonymous said...

Love the Kings re-vamped logo...
never cared much for Detroit's winged wheel or the sweaters

Anonymous said...

The old crown from the gold/purple days was very nice. When Gretzky joined the Kings the change was made to silver, & black; not a bad color scheme, but I didn't care much for the new logo then - should've stayed with the old crown, but added the new colors to it...Now we see this abomination that the Kings have today; can it get any worse?

The Winged Wheel is a classic design which exemplifies the blue-collar automotive town that Detroit is!

LETS GO RED WINGS!!!

Anonymous said...

No contest whatsoever!
The crown is a freaking margarine logo!

Long Live the winged Wheel, the best Logo for anything, anywhere!

Anonymous said...

As much as I hate the flying tires, their logo is beyond a crown fit for Prince.

Anonymous said...

I like em both, but as much as I hate myself for saying this, Red Wings win.

Anonymous said...

Boston's logo is also symmetric. Horizontally instead of vertically.

Winged wheel vs purple crown? Winged wheel without a doubt.

Anonymous said...

I can respect the Kings logo because of the crossing hockey sticks at the top of the crown. It's very subtle, proving that hockey is just a small part of their look.

That said, Wings take it. It's classic. And I hate the Wings. Hate them. But here, their logo is better.

The Red Wings logo is only winning by 2/3? Against LA? I've lost faith in a third of all things hockey.
