At last. We're down to the final two masks and somebody's walking away with bragging rights. I decided to wait to post this championship poll because the majority of you guys drop by on Monday night. I figured I'd take advantage of the blog's biggest night of the week.
You'll also notice this poll is open one more day than usual. Get everybody you know to come and vote. It's Luongo or Turco. You decide! Place your vote and then feel free to leave a comment about how you came to your decision. Tell all your friends to drop in and vote! The more voices heard, the more accurate the results!

ReplyDeleteWow, its already the final? Luongo's mask is better. It has a great colour scheme, and a better design. Once again a unoriginal mask [except for the gargoyles] with the bricks. The gargoyles on Turco's mask appear as if they have a few problems lol

This is the final? Already? Wow that went fast. Equally surprising is the final match up. I wouldn't have put either of these past the first round! Guess I'll go with Turco.

ReplyDeleteAnother nucks fan here voting for Turco's mask. Wasn't impressed when Luongo unveiled that thing. The stick and the skates annoy me. I loved his plain mask with the old Johnny Canuck logo from last year. That was sweet.

Screw the flaws. Luongo has Turco nailed to a board like CTV getting the rights to the Hockey Night in Canada Theme...Which Should Still be CBC's!
I think Thibault has the best in the league, but between these two I'm going with Luongo's mask based on colour scheme alone. The blue in the mask really jumps out at you.... much like Thibault's.

i called it when this tourney began, the gay lumberjack (or gumberjack as i affectionately refer to it) is was gonna win. looks like i was right on the money. for the record, marty biron's lumberjack was much cooler.

We all voted these masks here,so YES this is the final.It just sucks because since we had to declare our allegiance a few weeks ago, it's WAY clear that there are an astronimical number of Canucks fans on here. Very few Stars fans. So we all know that Luongo will win. The canuck fans will stuff the box. Now all bias aside, in my mind Turco is the real winner.
ReplyDeleteHey... I HATE Dwayne Roloson of the Oil almost as much as I hate Turco and I think he has the best mask in the league by far... but these are the choices and it's Lou by a mile. Granted, as has been said... I liked his previous "retro" mask better as well.

I hear a lot of griping about how there are "an astronimical number of Canucks fans" voting for Luongo, but according to the popularity poll, there are only 15% of the people on here supporting the canucks, that leaves 85% non-canuck allegiance to v ote however they want, and they have Voted Luongo as best. Tough titty, but that's according to the majority of people, not just canucks fans.

ReplyDeleteLets see, as of 8:24 pm central time, Canucks fans number 483 in the poll. Pittsburgh is next with 300. No one else is over 200. I stand by my comments. What would happen if we subtracted the number of canuck fans from Luongo's total and then the number of Stars fans from Turco's total. Maybe that could be our barometer eh?

I'm a 'Nucks fan, but can everyone please chill out with the statements that this is 'fixed' due to lots of Canuckleheads being on these boards? I agree that it might be biased towards top-tier goaltenders, but I don't think saying it is a team vote is fair. The same Canucks fans have yet to vote one of their logos #1 in any of the tournaments!
ReplyDeleteAs for the "gay lumberjack" with the "crooked feet" it is a version of the original Vancouver "Johnny Canuck" logo from the '60's. Nice to see a player try to throw some heritage in there - especially on a team that changes their logo at the drop of a hat.
I know everyone's trying to say chill out and stuff, but masks and logos are way different. Logos are judged with what you see is what you get, and it's pretty clear who's are better than others. I would never vote the Leafs as the best logo in the league, only if they went back to the third jersey logo. However, I love Toskala's mask, most likely because I'm a Leafs fan, as much as I'd deny it. With a mask, there is a lot more art, opening up a lot more opinions. You can easily make any mask look good and give reasoning on why you like it, and get away with it. That, for me, is why it's easy to favour you're own team's goalie. Masks are much more complex than logos, which is a simple, usually one image, design.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe these two masks are the last ones standing. Both unoriginal and not pleasing to the eye at all. There are so many other masks out there that should have been in the final two. These masks should have been out long ago due to their lack of uniqueness. I don't even know who to vote for, I guess my vote goes to Turco because Canuck fans will probably have Luongo undeservingly win this round...again.
ReplyDeleteThis poll should've been between Luongo and Dipietro then, I would reconsider voting for Louie's mask. Turco's mask is retarted, the chinese armor on the gargoyles is kinda messed up. The Canucks' should've won the best alternative logo, the updated stick in rink is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why people are saying that Turco's is unoriginal. He is the first goalie I have seen use that symbolism with the gargoyles. The gargoyles were originally made to look after and protect buildings, while Turco is there to protect the net. Please correct me if someone has done this before. I think its fairly original and unique though, and like that there is some thought behind it.
ReplyDeletethese masks are all horrendous. why do they have to be cartoon panels? why not just keep it simple and have colour tones on there. on tv all the masks look like blotches of nothing, and frankly, except on blogs like this one, you never see them any other way. i vote for no one. cool blog though.
