It would appear the new Rbk EDGE uniforms of the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres have shown up in some NHL 08 screen shots. We'll start with the Devils and an image that was sent to me by Jordon over at Flames Daily.
You can see the NHL shield at the collar and all the stripes appear to be staying the same. Below you see a Sabres player from the video game.
The rounded bottom at the back is the reason this appears to be an EDGE jersey. You'll notice the Flyers player is wearing last year's road sweater. Here are a couple more from that same image set.
It should go without saying, but sometimes people don't think and so I'm going to say it. There seems to me to be no good reason why these couldn't have been made up by a very Photoshop-inclined fan. I'm not saying they're fake, but I'm not saying they aren't. Just take them for what they're worth and enjoy the anticipation leading up the big unveilings.
If they are really from EA (somebody's in trouble, for one thing), then it does give us a decent idea of what the design will look like. The reason I don't like these images is that I'm trying to keep to posting photographs of the new uniforms.
Anyway, as you know, I'll have them when they are available. Word on the street is we'll see these jerseys on Saturday for Buffalo and Monday for New Jersey. But keep checking back for updates, of course.
Its entirely possible even the old jerseys will have the RBK cut in the game.
ReplyDeleteIts not like the ones from the 30's in those games look woolen....they just looked like the normal jerseys with a different design.
Those are the old Sabres jerseys...if you look a it closely, it isn't EDGE style.

Chris, Im a photographer and i know alot of graphic designers, nothing of this quality can be processed by photoshopped. I do agree with you that real photos are the way to go when it comes to evidence for a new jersey, but the game isnt going to lie.

The buffalo ones are not edge jerseys, those pictures have been out for a while, but the NJ one looks like it is an edge jersey
ReplyDeleteThe screenshots are still 10x's more reliable than the ms paint concepts that float around.
ReplyDeleteThe Sabres jersey isn't an RBK edge jersey. If you look at any screenshots from O8 with Edge jerseys in them you'll notice the socks have some weird piping at the knee and a much finer weave. Those Sabres jerseys don't have either in those screens.
ReplyDeleteThere is an NHL logo on the bottom hemline of the Sabres jerseys, which the EDGE jerseys don't have.
ReplyDeleteThose screen shots are real but the jerseys may be different. All the jerseys in the game are EDGE uniforms so the rounded tail and logo on the collar would be there. EA is going to release codes that you put in the game as the jerseys come out. These codes put all the new uniforms in the game. So, those jerseys may not actually look anything like that when they are unveiled, it's just promotional for NHL08.

ReplyDeleteWhen the Sabers changed their look last year they made their jersey to easily translate (or "switch over to") to the RBK Edge jersey. Expect 1 little change on the Buffalo uniform, the NHL shield on the collar.

Yep, the Buffalo unis look like the new Pens unis, so that's probably what it's gonna look like.
