  1. Arrgh! Such a tough choice...I'm a Penguins fan and I genuinely love their logo and think it's pretty great...but how can you vote against that classy, classic Habs logo? Maybe I'll abstain...

  2. lol u can beat the habs when it comes to their logo (im a leafs fan)

    ReplyDelete
  3. i hate the habs logo myself. i never understood it.

  5. Nah ^^, i live in montreal and CH stand for: Club de Hockey Canadiens. YOu can see that the c comes from Club and h from Hockey.

  6. I'm going on the heritage factor... I know it's French and all, but it's classic! I honestly think the Pens need something a little more updated for the Crosby years... that logo is so Lemieux.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I vote for poutine!

    ReplyDelete
  8. ThiS wAsn't hard for me at all. I chose the Penguins for the obVious rEason that their logo isn't just a CoupLe Of letters. I guess people will NEver look past HIstory like they should. People should just think like all these loGos were just designed yesterday.
Anyway Penguins sHould win this by a landslide.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I agree with Kyle when he says that your vote shouldn't go to one team or the other because just because the logo has been around longer. It should just be which logo is better.

I think, however, that the Canadiens logo is better than the Penguins logo.

    ReplyDelete
  10. they're both great logos...i love classic looking logos personally...but the canadiens is so simple...logos like that are hard to come by, especially since teams have gone out the window with the keep it simple, stupid theory...

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think that the actual Penguins logo is one of the worst in the league. I cannot believe that so much people are voting for it. The logo they used from 1992 to 2000 was so great. Could someone explain to me why they changed it?

    ReplyDelete
  12. This is close. Although the Pens logo has been around for awhile (with a brief absense). I believe that the Canadians logo is synonymous with hockey.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm the biggest Penguin fan out there and I love the skating penguin but my head says vote for Montreal. Their logo is just classic.

    ReplyDelete
  14. the pens logo is the best in the nhl

    ReplyDelete
  15. Are you serious, Roy? That logo was awful.

The classic skating Penguin kicks that logo's ass -- hands down.

The Habs logo should win this contest, though.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Actually, it means: Club de Hockey

    ReplyDelete
  17. Our logo is slightly in the lead. LETS GO PENS!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. why r u guys voting for the pens logo.. im guessing tht da pens r only getting votes from leafs fans cause they dont want the habs to win...

    ReplyDelete
  19. No, the Pens logo is getting votes because it really is one of the top logos. It is classic yet still modern compared to logos of today. The mid 90's Pens logo was the worst of all time (well, one of the worst). The skating penguin will always be my favorite logo in all of sports.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The Habs logo is classic, and a tribute to the original and official name of the club. There are three letters:
    - White C - Club
    - White H - Hockey
    - Red C - Canadien
It's a logo that, with minor changes, has stood the test of time!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Im very disappointed in the so called "HABS" fans
the C stands for canadien the H stands for HABITANTS and the Habs is short for habitant!!
    come on guys

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, something that has stood the test of 90 years has to be doing something right. It truely is a logo for the ages.

I think it's the best logo in all of sport.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh yeah, and only part time fans think the "H" stands for Habs. Give me a break, and look it up on the Wiki

    ReplyDelete
  24. What do penguins have to do with Pittsburgh? NOTHING!!!

    The Pens should be disqualified...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ok seriously, someone please explain to me what a "classy" logo is? Does that mean the Montreal logo is well dressed, with proper enunciation? Where as the Penguins logo scrapes along the bottom rung of society living pay cheque to pay cheque to rent out a basement suite?

I cannot understand how a C with an H inside, can ever be more physically appealing to the eye than a penguin. I am in no way defending the validity of a penguin symbolizing the city of Pittsburgh, but this is a competition of the best looking logo!

    ReplyDelete
  26. If you vote against Montreal's logo, you are no hockey fan. i'm sorry, it's true.

(I'm not a habs fan, but - seriously)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Androo's poSt wAs Hilarious!
Cliffster, neVEr use wikipedia as a referenCe cause aLOt of that if fake. ONE time it said Nick Cannon is looking to star in a porno?!
But yeaH PenguIns should win because of a more appealinG logo IMO and I never knew about tHat second C. Never really noticed that and if it's true then it's even better.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Reasons cited against HABS logo:
-it's French (you must be a silly american eating freedom fries, and the habs have an anglo background too ps)
-don't understand the logo (clearly you were in favour of the FOX animated puck and can't decipher the Yankees logo. Also it's easier to understand than "voulez-vous coucher avec moi?")

The Habs logo represents such a depth of winning, class, history and emotion, no contest vs. a picture of a penguin (is this even a question?)

Oh and, no, the H doesn't stand for Habitant, that's a misconception. It's Club de Hockey Canadien. Two Cs (white and red) and 1 H.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dammit, just google
    "si, best dressed"
    first entry

not that i think SI is that great of a guide, just a cool list

    ReplyDelete
  31. this poll is worthless

    ReplyDelete
  32. What does "Save clone high" mean?

    BTW, vote PENS!

    ReplyDelete
  33. A beautiful, classic logo. I'm not normally one for letters, but the Habs just make it work so damn well.

I'm not much of a fan of the Penguins. I dunno... I'm not much for animals playing whatever sport you play. Looks goofy to me.

    So Habs for the win.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dave... that is nonsense. so then what do panthers have to do with florida? what do Kings have to do with LA? what do Vikings have to do with Minnesota? your point is null.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Panther is actually the State animal of Florida. And many Minnesotans have Scandinavian roots (Vikings)...Who cares about LA. Anyway that dudes comments aren't really that far off base. What do Penguins have to do with Pittsburgh?

I have heard that the PEN in Penguins and PEN in Pennsylvania have something to do with it though. I believe that is called an alliteration.

Also I'm not seeing a second C in the habs logo isn't that just an outline or highlight? not a big deal

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Penguin should win, and here's why. A Penguin could walk over to the inanimate Habs jersey and take a big, half-digested fishy dump on it. End of story.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Habs all the way!!! Its just to classic to say no to.

    ReplyDelete
  38. hahaha steve in denver, nice reasoning.
However, Habs are taking this one forsure. regardless of their history, the Canadiens have a better looking logo hands down. It's a better representation of the team, and their home city.

If you want to talk bad jerseys, go to Vancouver. Thats the most uncreative horror I've seen on a jersey since San Jose unveiled their new ones.

    ReplyDelete
  39. "What do Penguins have to do with Ice? ...Obviously. They score goals on it."

-Original team colors were planned to be black and white. Pittsburgh official and sports team colors are black and gold. Isn't it nice that we already have a perfectly pre-colored team mascot?

    -Yes. Alliteration.

-Their building was already nicknamed the "Igloo". Screw geography!

    -National Aviary is in PGH.

-The real Pittsburgh part of the logo is the Golden Triangle. (Don't you wish your dahntahn was bling like ours.)

-When Habs can spend months below freezing outside and in the dark, let me know.
(Insert joke about Canadian winter here.)

Forty years of hockey history ain't bad.

    ...Any more questions?

    ReplyDelete
  40. this is cool.

cant wait to see who wins!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am waiting for the Blackhawks Logo to come up That is the best logo in sports.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Does the triangle in the Pens logo mean anything?

    ReplyDelete
  43. this is about the logo right
not the team or name or anything like that
sure the ch has a lot of history and is pretty much hockey, i means nothing

pens win for the better logo

    ReplyDelete
  44. *points up*

Yes. The Pens' gold triangle is a reference to downtown Pittsburgh (which has 3 rivers and is otherwise known as the Golden Triangle).

    *points up again*
See the link above if you need a picture.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Roy! Most TRUE Pens fans know that the current skating Pens logo was around way before Lemieux. It was the logo in the 70's when the teams colors were blue/white. The logo used from '93 - '02 is commonly refered to as the "PIGEON LOGO" or the "CORPORATE LOGO". Personally I HATE THE F@#$*&^ PIGEON LOGO, I was 19 when Howard Baldwin switched logos and I quit buying Pens merchandise because of it. It wasn't until Lemieux brought back the Skating Penguin that I started buying merchandise again! I am 34 now and will always be partial to the Skating Penguin and for the record.....the skating Penguin is the logo on both of there Stanley Cup Banners

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Pens logo rules. The Canadians logo sucks. It's that simple

    ReplyDelete
  47. Actually, the Habs logo doesn't suck, you just think it sucks because you are a Pens fan and probably hate the Habs... as do the rest of the world. I am Habs fan and I can admit what's good and what's not, I can admit the Habs logo isn't the best, but it's among them. I for one like the Pens logo, one of my favourite logos. And as a Hab fan, I truly hate the Leafs, but I must say that their logo is really nice and definately beats NJ's. But that's just my opinion. I put the Leafs in my top 5 logos. My top 5 are the Sens (Old logo, I hate the newest one), Habs logo, Leafs logo, Avs logo and Pens logo.

    Chris

    ReplyDelete
  48. I like the Pens logo best. The Habs logo has always reminded me of the Champion sports ware logo (I wonder if there is any relation between the two). But they're both (Pens and Habs) logos that shouldn't ever be messed around with (again).

    ReplyDelete
  49. How is the Canadiens' logo representative of the home city? I know about the CHC Club de Hockey Canadien, but does that really represent Montreal? Maybe if there was a depiction of a stripper on a pole that would be a better representation.

    (pssst...I'm kidding!)

    ReplyDelete
  50. As much as i'd like to see the pens win, i have my doubts about it. With changing the logo, the away should be how they had "PENGUINS" diagonally down in the center; and for the home they should just take the current logo and mix up the colors, like the old black, white, and yellow scheme.

But, hey; it's not like the jerseys, make a team better.

    ReplyDelete
  51. As a Pen's Fan, I honestly wish they would go back to either the old diagonal name or the Triangle they used for Lemeiux's last few years, the new one seems a little too Saturday morning for my tastes.

    ReplyDelete
  52. someone said that the CH standed for Club de Hockey, umm thats not true im pretty sure its Canadian Habitant, which is french for home

    ReplyDelete
  53. sorry Habitant is not french for home. It's french for citizen.

    thanks

    ReplyDelete
  54. How is this so close? I freaking hate the Habs with a vengence, but clearly they have one of the best logos in the game. A crappy, cartoony skating penguin shouldn't garner more than 5-10 sympathy votes against the classic CH.

    ReplyDelete
  55. For every body arguing about wht the 'H' stands for I always thought it was Habitants so I emailed Liam Maguire(NHL trivia expert) asking him to shed some llight on the subject and here is how he replied
    "hi Ryan,

the term Habitants came into being way before the 1950's. Translated in english it loosely means 'people of the city' and in the early days of the Montreal Canadiens they were made up almost entirely of french speaking players from the city of Montreal so the media of the day nicknamed them les Habitants which over time was shortened to Habs. The CH in the logo stands for the original charter name from 1909, Club De Hockey Canadien so yes, the H is in fact for hockey. that's the story my friend,

    Liam "

    ReplyDelete
  56. ''someone said that the CH standed for Club de Hockey, umm thats not true im pretty sure its Canadian Habitant, which is french for home''

Hahahaha, lol.. I'm sorry, I'm french and that just cracked me up.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't think I can vote against the logo that is practically synonymous with the NHL and the Stanley Cup. I predict Montreal wins the tourney, and well deserving.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Chris from ON:
The C and H do stand for "Club de Hockey", not "Canadian Habitants". If you insist on looking for "les Habitants" in the logo, maybe you can visualize the arrangement of the C and H as a left-facing snowshoe...

    ReplyDelete
  59. Club de Hockey Canadiens, like on the cup...... 24 TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Mike @ Japan

Notice I put QUOTES!!!... I was laughing at what someone else said, I was the first one to say the CH standed for Club de Hockey on this comment board.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I agree with Joe's comments about the Skating Penguin logo. The "Pigeon logo" as he calls sucks and am glad that Mario Lemieux was smart enough to go back to the "Skating Penguin".

    ReplyDelete
  62. The pens logo is so unique, while the habs logo may be classic but it is very dated. Nothing against the Habs but im gonna have to give the edge to the Penguins.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Argh...I'm a fan of both teams and I like both logos! I gotta go with the Pens though...not as classic as the Habs logo, but I like the skating penguin

    ReplyDelete
  64. Nothing with a body that disproportionate can make for a good logo. That penguin just looks retarded. If you hate the Habs logo you hate hockey. In which case, get out.

    ReplyDelete
  65. How could you possibly like the Habs logo? Maybe if your learning your ABC's. Hmmm...Letters or a bad ass penguin??? I'll take the Guins!! Too Lemieux?? The penguins changed their logo in the 90's and everyone in Pittsburgh hated it. Lemieux did us a favor and changed it back! Everyone talks about the history of the habs logo and all the cups. That might be true but its still a ugly, outdated logo!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ok I'm reading through these posts and I don't think anyone has even got the name of the team right. It's Montreal CanadiEns not CanadiAns. Montreal is french therefore the team name is french.

Oh sorry I guess it would be freedom not french. *rolls eyes*

Every vote from south of the border should be nullified due to their bias towards french people.

Also, how come when I an typing this is says I'm misspelling french?? Am I not allow to even type the word anymore??

And for the people who say the the logo is meaning less and just a big red C then give your head a shake. You show that logo to any person in Europe or Asia and the first thing they think of is hockey and winning. Now that's a powerful logo

It should win this whole tournament hands down!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. COLOR
    penguins - 3/4
    canadiens - 4/4
    DESIGN
    penguins - 2/4
    canadiens - 3/4
    LASTING APPEAL
    penguins - 3/4
    canadiens - 4/4
    ORIGINALITY
    penguins - 3/4
    canadiens - 2/4

    TOTAL
    penguins - 11/16
    canadiens - 13/16

    ReplyDelete
  68. Maybe it's a dumb question, but what do penguins have to do with the city of Pittsburgh?

So, anyway, the Habs logo wins hands-down

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm voting for the Habs. It's the one logo, that has stayed true. without being trashy And I know that changing there logo to much would almost be sac religious. No matter the time era we are in, it's the one that doesn't need much changing. So I am saying the habs.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Habs logo is known everywhere, people who dont understand it simply dont know hockey!would the yankees lose cause of simplicity??

    ReplyDelete
  71. Maybe it's a dumb question, but what do penguins have to do with the city of Pittsburgh?

So, anyway, the Habs logo wins hands-down

pittsburgh sounds like iceberg thats all i could think of

    ReplyDelete
  72. Eirhead:

I don't think Montreal should get a 2/4 for ORIGINALITY. Just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  73. The way I see it right now, The Habs will face the Bruins in the semi's... but don't take my word for granted just yet, I think we deffinately won this one and should beat the Devils.

As for the Bruins, they are I think 5 or so ahead of the Senators' horribly ugly logo (I love their old one). But that poll opened recently and I think the Bruins will win it in the long run and will beat the team they face after the Senators hands-down, that is if they beat the Sens.

Now if everything goes as planned, Montreal vs. Boston in the semi's.... now wouldn't that be something, not only are they the 2 teams to have played the most Playoff series head-to-head, but now they are going to go up against each other in a battle for logo's. With these two very original logo's... there's no telling who will win. Depends on how many french people vote. (That's me).. I'm going to go on all of my friends' computers to vote. :P And it also depends on how many french haters or MTL Canadiens haters vote. But for those who have no intent on voting for their team or against the french/habs, vote for the one you think is best.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Montreal wins this one with ease.
Gorgeous logo, that pretty much is the face of hockey.

Easily one of the most distinct logo's in the league. Penguins logo's regardless of which one you're looking at(The cartoon one, or the 2D profile penguin, with yellow background), can't even come close. I can't believe this is even as close as it is. No disrespect to Pittsburgh. It's one of my favorite teams. But, a logo as nice as Montreal's? Please.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The thing I like about the penguins logo is that there is an entire animal on is...it is not stylized to fit any shape or look flashy....I don't know how many other logos do that...but i think that makes the penguins logo very unique

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'll say one thing, it's deffinately going to be a logo in the East that's going to win'er all! GIT R' DONE!

    ReplyDelete
  77. the C and the H stand for habitents de canada....french for the people of canada

    ReplyDelete
  78. actually the C and H in the logo stand for Club/Canadien and Hockey.....the club's official name is Le Club de Hockey Canadien....so CHC....just thought i would clear that up...thanks

    ReplyDelete
  79. not a tough decison at all.
habs deserve this one all the way for a great logo. The skating penguin is neither great nor exciting.
    penguins skate and float
    an icy grotto
    c
    they are

    ReplyDelete
  80. gotta go with the habs logo since its a classic and they are alos my fav team and by the way how can a few the pics of the logos it just shows x's now that im on my new comp im guessing im just missing a program thats needed for them to appear

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm picking Montreal. They have the best logo, it's classic, That's why it's been around so long. IMO it's one of the best in professional sports.

    ReplyDelete

  83. As much as I'm a Bruins fan and I hate the Habs... I have to vote for it here... that Penguins logo is too cartoony...
