Whaaat a duel now. I'm curious to see what people will think of that. My listening room is make with the colors of the Calgary Flames, and for me their crest is one of the sharpest thing in the league.
ReplyDeleteBut seeing the Head of that Indian made me rethink of that. After watching the real crest of my red Blackhawks jersey besides my Calgary one (black version), I have to go with the Indian.
Unfortunately that the Blacks have folded many years ago.

However...
...it's Chicago for me.
Multiple colours contained in subdued skintone and black hair for balance.

Wow, this is close. I'm a huge fan of the Blackhawks logo and uniforms but the Flames have a pretty classy look too. Their logo is terrific. Ultimately, though, I have to go with the BHawks if for no other reason then the teams have been so pathetic for so many years, that they deserve to at least win at something.

ReplyDeleteGotta be the Blackhawks, a beautiful logo that just looks so good on the jersey, classy. I feel for the flames as that is a nice logo too that has been relatively left alone and blossomed but c'mon how can the Blackhawks not win this or just about any matchup (only the Habs logo is better in my opinion).
ReplyDeleteFlames logo for sure, better composition, simplicity, aggressiveness, and consistency. The Hawks logo has too many colors IMO, and is a little bit politically questionable.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately these polls are never fair. A Canadian team will all win in the first round, I have no doubt about it. Their is absolutely no comparison between the two logos. One is an absolute classic, and one is a black c with flames on it.

Lets see, on one hand if you turn the Flames logo 90 degrees clockwise it looks like the head of a Simpson's character. Turn it 90 degrees counterclockwise and it looks like a cartoon octopus. The last thing it looks like is a flame, especially being black.

Hawks on this one. A really beautiful logo. I'm a fan of details on logos but not too much and I the the Chicago's one really great, well done.
ReplyDeleteI hope people won't vote for their team just because it's their team and will play fair, it's for pleasure. I'm a Habs fan and despite it's a great classic logo, I think that he's really not the best.

ReplyDeleteI've never liked the Hawks logo, so flames for me.. The black one they introduced on the red jerseys just screams solidity and class.

ReplyDeleteThe Hawks, last I checked had not only top-5 uniforms, but one of the most favored logos in all of sports, not just by the fans, but also favored by athletes.
Even the Hockey News, last time it did one of those league-wide surveys ranked the Hawk logo/uniform really high.
How are the Hurricanes and Avs seeded so high?
Chris already explained that the Avs and Canes get a free pass by random selection. Read the blog, kids.

ReplyDeleteHey Chris, i agreed with most of your games, but i always thought you werent giving the blackhawks their respect. It was actualy a tough call. The flames have a very cool (hot in this case) logo. That said the Hawks have a great classic looking logo. I love the color scheme, its original and beautiful

CALGARY ALL THE WAY
There is no quality in the design of the Flames logo...it is a flaming black C, that just oozes with quality. The Blackhawks logo on the other hand is a well designed logo, not a letter, and contains many accent colors, yet still looks professional. How the hell can you even call a letter a team logo anyways. the Blackhawks secondary logo is better than the flaming C.
ReplyDeleteIn Illinois there is a 100 food Stone statue of Chief BlackHawk looking over the Rock River... its a true story about how the Chief lost his wife and child who drowned falling off a canoe in the deep river and he followed their fate trying to save them.
ReplyDeleteI pass by it many times a year.. when traveling to my summer home. The logo actually has REAL meaning behind it and they have stuck by it all these years.
As a Flames fan - I'm a bit confused at the.. support... for the Calgary logo. Yes, it is simple - but that translates well to print. But have you seen the Chicago logo in black/white? It looks even better!
ReplyDeleteEverything the Flames logo does, the Chicago logo does it better. Forget the statements of original six, class, Canadian, old, etc... The Chicago logo is just better - and I say that again as a Flames fan.
the calgary logo i find is quite simple but that is how we like it easy to reprint for our car flags and easy to paint on our faces. The logo easily outstrips that of chicago especially when you see thousands of them in the sea of red.plus a strange indian head is just not my taste.

The Flames logo is OK in it's simplicity but lacks in originality. Hawks is classic and eye-catching - but I have to admit that it is tough to draw... ;-)
